WHO WAS FRANCIS MARION? Francis Marion was a military officer who

served in the American Revolution. He was part of the Continental Army and the South Carolina militia.

Why was he called “The Swamp Fox”

Francis Marion was called The Swamp Fox because of his abnormal guerrilla war tactics . He learned from the Indians how to surprise attack the British and quickly disappear into the swamp, and not be found.
