Message from Cathy Frederickson President, Galveston Republican Women
October 2018
It is time for Renewal in America and Time To Renew Your Membership in Galveston Republican Women We join together to Revive Patriotism, Dignity and Mutual Respect in our Great Nation!
We are facing one of the most important ELECTIONS in the history of our nation. Many have proclaimed it a critical battle for Truth. We are fighting to protect our Freedom of Religion, to protect our right to live our values without the threat of persecution or someone forcing us to Bake a cake or provide abortions which conflict with our values. We shall continue protecting our values with honor. We are fighting for the Freedom to speak without having a fierce character attack because someone disagrees with you. Discussion with respect is a valuable American tradition that allowed us to work together to build a nation of free people. Power hungry people are trying to divide this nation instead of encouraging the American tradition of working together for Good. Overcoming evil with Good is a moral imperative that we must cherish.
Republicans are Americans fighting for individual Freedom. From the Freedom of slaves fought for in the Civil War to the Civil Rights Act, Republicans have led the way in standing up for the individual’s rights. The Civil Rights Act was passed by Republicans voting unanimously for Equal Rights while the Democrats voted against the Civil Rights Act. The book “Big Lies” by Dinesh D’Souza clarifies the fact that Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood and idol of Hillary Clinton, promoted women in the Ku Klux Klan promoting cleansing the nation through Eugenics while Republicans were fighting for freedom for all. The story shouted loud enough and often enough can be distorted as the Democrats have tried to rewrite true history. The book “Those Who Care” provides well-documented research regarding the generosity of Republicans in our communities supporting charities which benefit the poor or challenged far outshines the Democrats. We are the party of a Strong Free Market Capitalistic Economy that provides jobs for more Black and Hispanic citizens in history. Our representatives have voted to build back the strength of our military to provide Peace through strength for our children. America is again respected by nations throughout the world paving the way for a more peaceful world. It is important to remind ourselves and our families that we have turned a corner back to a path that reflects the intentions of our Founding Father with Equal Rights for the individual, God Endowed Inalienable rights. The government was created to protect the rights of the individual in America not to play God.
Voting straight Republican on November 6th will allow Americans to regain the prosperity, opportunity and hope that was fading away during the last administration. We must encourage one another to stand strong for our beliefs and share them with anyone who will listen. Take them to the polls and celebrate their right to vote. On August 18, 1920, people celebrated the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment, It is hard to believe that it was less than 100 years ago that women were granted the right to vote. My great Grandmother was involved in the Women’s Suffrage movement. Women fought for those rights which we must protect. So please help at the phone banks, block walk your neighborhood, educate your children so that they will have the beautiful freedoms that we have enjoyed in this Great Nation!
Please Join us for The Get Out The Vote Rally, October 17th at the Tremont Hotel and bring a friend.
OUR COUNTRY is COUNTING on YOU!

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE Joyce Bell, VP Legislation
Political Update from Republican Party of Texas Chairman, James Dickey
"To ramp up our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts for October, our field team members across the state have been proactively building their volunteer base. Mark Irey and Rachel Gravlee in the Houston metroplex have been doing tremendous work recruiting for block walks and phone banks. April Lenaghen and Matt Dunn used last week’s Abbott debate watch party in Dallas to build stronger connections with volunteers who are excited to work on behalf of Republicans. After the historic win in Senate District 19, Rachel Kern is keeping volunteers activated in the crucial races on the ballot in San Antonio next month. Despite challenging weather in Corpus Christi recently, Allison Rackley and Kalon Melton have done a great job of finding unique events to recruit new volunteers. Voter contact remains our chief focus from now until Election Day. There is no time like the present to volunteer! We are happy to connect you to the team or explain opportunities that can be done from your home. Please contact Joel
at [email protected] to get involved today. We
have also launched the Texas Cavalry, a volunteer
program to send volunteers to battleground parts of our state in the final days before Election Day, November 6. Please consider participating in any or all of the last four days in a battleground area and encouraging your friends and neighbors to do so as well."
SALUTE TO VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS Marilyn Harris
Veterans and First Responders were honored at a special table at our GRW Annual Dinner Fundraiser! Our outreach is becoming more well-known, with many wanting to become involved. Monday, November 5, 10:00, the Galveston VFW Post 880 will host a ‘Breakfast with Mayes Middleton’, Honoring our Veterans. Everyone is invited to help us honor these special men and women. Our Committee is working with the Galveston VFW and Gulf Coast Chapter Military Veteran’s Peer Network to better connect with more veterans, and expand our outreach. We want veterans to know we Republicans support them. November 11 is Veteran’s Day, November 10 is Marine Corps Birthday. Therefore, our November meeting will be focused on honoring all our veterans! Please
introduce yourselves and let them know they’re welcome to join us as Associate or Full Members!
