Its not charity but to help build a sense of self respect and dignity and also providing a sense of pride in what they have build
What they do

discarded cloth into ‘MY-Pad’ and opening up the taboo issue of menses..
Trash to market ….the Goonj way
At our own XLRI
In words of the benificiaries
A step to convert hundreds of Aanganwadis into colourful and child friendly places.
An Aanganwadi worker explains the impact - “Pehley bachcha aata nahi tha, ab bachcha jata nahi ” means earlier the kids were not coming, now they don’t want to leave !!
Ideology
Understands the importance of self –reliance the once idea or concept millions of India’s rural poor do not enjoy or dream about
Anshu believes that spirit of self reliance thrives when coupled with self confidence and this he feels in part can come from a persons earning the trousers and shirt rather than received by a charity and his work provides ongoing and visible value to the community
He bridged this gap by connecting the rural poor and rapidly growing urban middle class through a common currency clothing
The Impact
Two million pieces of clothing earned by and bringing new dignity to the our own rural poor
Or
200000 toys helping energize village childcare and nursery programs
Or
Two million sanitory pads
But it doesn’t end here
The real impact runs deep: His interventions set in motion self-
development energies that continue across the country
Forced/ stimulated the government to act
The model “trash based” rather than Cash based” can be applied across India and developing and underdeveloped countries across the globe
Who is a Anshu Gupta
A true entrepreneur by heart driven through a motive to empower and make a difference
A change maker rather than a speech maker
