Flood InsuranceRyburne Brokers & Co
Flood Insurance for for Homes & small businesses in the Upper Calder Valley
FLOOD RE• Not for profit body starting in Spring/Summer 2016?• Fixed premium for flood cover depending on council tax
band.£210 - £1200• Exceptions – new properties (pre-2009), and small
businesses• Why not for business:- In the words of the Government
and ABI:-• Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and leasehold
properties are not included in Flood Re, because there is already an effective and competitive property insurance market covering them. Neither the ABI, nor the Government, is currently aware of any evidence to suggest that affordable flood insurance will cease to be widely available for them in the future!!
Managing Flood Risks Going Forward
• FLOOD PLAN• 1) Physical Protections – Flood gates, pumps, raised
electrics and data points, flood resilient flooring and plaster
• 2) Raised storage arrangements – internal and external• 3) Contacts for staff, suppliers, customers, utilities,
insurance, business ‘buddies’• 4) External record keeping • WHAT ELSE?• 1) Lobby Govt to extend Flood Re• 2) Community Self Insurance??
