FuelThe second element of the fire triangle is fuel
Examples of fuel are paper, wood, cardboard textiles and gas.
Storage/Disposal of Potential Fuels
• Highly flammable materials should be clearly identified and stored securely
• Ensure that all waste is disposed of safely within the office and classroom
• A large number of school fires are started deliberately, don’t leave temptation in their way.
Gas
If you smell gas you should
• Open all windows and doors, evacuate the immediate area
• Inform reception/site services
• Do not switch on or off any electrical items.
![Page 14: Induction p owerpoint](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022051518/568c3be31a28ab0235abd7e7/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Oxygen
The third part of the triangle is Oxygen, which is part of the air around us.
Whilst there is nothing we can do to prevent the availability of oxygen, there are a few key actions that can be taken to ensure that if a fire does start we can limit its spread.
The most effective way is to ensure that doors and windows are shut when you leave your room.
