• Making Women’s Empowerment Sexy
The ProblemIn Africa, there are more deaths caused by AIDS than all the wars, famines, floods, and deadly diseases on the continent - COMBINED.
The Problem
The one single technology that has been proven most effective at stopping this is something we can all get at our local convenience store: Condoms
Most people in Sub Saharan Africa simply don’t have access to condoms and increasingly, women in Africa are becoming the face of the epidemic.
How could we offer a systemic, sustainable solution?
The Opportunity
• Condoms are the most popular form of sexual protection in America - and they carry the highest profit per square foot of shelf space of any HBC (Health and Beauty Care) category. The U.S. condom market is a stable and mature market growing at a steady rate every year. The economic recession brought much attention to condom sales – which were up 10.2% in the beginning months of 2009.
• High gross margin of 86% allows for substantial profits to do a world of good.
The Opportunity
Condoms is a condom company with a cause: to empower women globally by supporting the human right to safe sex. For every condom you purchase, one is distributed in a developing country.
