2021 Prep Enrolments
Prep enrolments are coming in for 2021. Enrolments are still being taken for next year. If you are aware of future enrolments please encourage them to contact the school. New Transition information under the new Guidelines is being forwarded to parents and Kinders this week.

Home Readers
Spring time is a great opportunity to have a good clean and tidy up in many households. When you do this I urge you all to have a good search for any school readers or borrowed MARC books that you may find hiding under beds, in cupboards, draws or on shelves. Please bundle these up and return to the school with your student or drop off at front reception. Many readers went home during the COVID break and not returned. Please help us with this. Ta.
Parent Opinion Survey Each year the school conducts an opinion survey amongst a
sample of the school community. This year, all parents are
invited to participate. Results will be used to inform and direct
our future school planning and improvement.
I ask you to please take the time to complete the survey as your
opinions are important to us and will contribute to the future
management and organisation of our school.
Further information will be forward tomorrow to all family email
addresses. Please check your emails and follow the link.

Amazing Prep!
Welcome to Week 2 of Term 4!
This week in Investigations the Preps have been
loving the Campsite and the Puppet show! It has
been great to see their imaginations running wild
in these areas and they have been playing
together so well. We have been continuing to
look at rhyming words this week in Writing so far
we have covered /ed/, /un/, /ing/ and /ake/.
Students have written some great story’s
incorporating a variety of rhyming words in
them. In Jolly Phonics we have been revising 2 of
the sounds we learnt in Remote Learning; /v/
and /oo/oo/. In Maths we are practising our
handwriting of numbers, counting to 100 and
subitising. We have also been looking at
Subtraction. In well-being this week we looked at
the emotions; bored and curious. We discussed
when we feel these emotions and the facial
expressions we use to show how we feel when
we are feeling them.
Please remember:
Students need to be reading their home
reader and Magic 100 words at home
every night. This must be signed once
done.
Please ensure you return any HOME
READERS at home to school, we are
missing a lot from our book boxes and we
need them back as soon as possible.
With the warmer weather coming students
need to ensure they are bringing a drink
bottle to school each day and are dressed
appropriately.
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday to the following children who celebrated their birthday
this week …

Grade 3/4 ....incredible!
It was pleasing to see the way our grade
settled back into their learning at school
with them all getting back into the routine.
Our reading and writing focus has been
information texts concentrating on key
words. In maths we completed chance
and data experiments using coins and
dies.
We continued our Stephanie Alexander
Kitchen Garden with the cooking group
making gnocchi using potatoes, silverbeet,
spinach and spring onions grown in our
garden.
The gardening group did a great job
weeding, composting and pruning. In art
we folded origami fish that we added to
an ocean scene.

Magical Grade 1/2…....
Hello everyone,
We have had a busy week at school.
Yesterday we welcomed another new student
into our classroom, Andy. We hope he
settles in well. Crazy hair day was a fun
day for all last Friday.
In literacy, we have been catching up on
reading and still needing all children to
bring their readers back to school that
were sent home for remote learning.
Readers need to be signed and sent to
school every day. In class, we have been
busy doing spelling and informative writing.
In maths, we have been learning about
multiplication, division and addition arrays.
We are also playing lots of fun maths
games. Our champion of around the world
this week is Mitchell, he made it around
the world in one go. Congratulations
Mitchell!

MARC VAN NEWS, TERM 4, WEEK 2
The new truck has arrived at Kerang Primary !! Yipee!! I will
be back travelling to schools in the MARC van from next week
– I have used my car as a mobile library for the first week!
In 2020, Book Week will be next week, 17th October to the
23rd October. The books that have been shortlisted will be
judged this Friday the 16th October, by the CBCA. Families
can look up the winners on the CBCA website Friday
afternoon. Next week we will look at the winning books in
MARC lessons.
We will also be focusing on the different forms of Poetry,
such as Acrostic and Classic Australian Poetry.
Borrowing from the MARC van still looks a little different at
the moment. I have allocated a tub of books for each school
for children to borrow during MARC lessons. However these
books will need to be left at school please. This will remain
the procedure until we hear more from the Department
Guidelines. Any special requests can be made and I will bring
that particular book the following week. All books, once
returned, are sanitised and quarantined for a week.
Thank you and isn’t it great to back to school and to see your
friends again? I know I am loving it !
Mrs. Kylie Leahy (Mrs. MARC)
MARC Library Teacher
5/6 Brilliant!!!!.
The weeks are already beginning to feel like they are
flying! We have already been discussing graduation
for our grade 6 students and brainstorming ideas for
lots of COVID restricted situations. The children have
loved exploring the options.
All students need to be wearing a hat now at school
and it is ok to send sunscreen to school with your
child should you wish them to reapply throughout
the day.
This term I have been giving students the
opportunity to write down the daily puzzle, riddle or
cryptic challenge, which they can take home and
share with families – encourage this as they are
pretty tricky and also fun for the whole family to be
involved in.
This week we have been:
Spelling: au and oy words
Reading: using illustrations, diagrams, maps etc to
learn the authors intent
Writing: information report – structure, paragraphs,
paragraph structure, language used etc
Maths: fractions, 4 processes, percentages and
decimals
Respectful relationships: problem solving, positive
self talk
Note:
Don’t forget to name students jumpers etc – a
few have been hanging around with no names
already this week
Homework – none this week, just a lifeline to
complete and hand in the first weeks homework.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Ms. Closter & Mrs Morris
Lunch orders are BACK!!
TOMORROW’S SPECIAL:

Islander heritage and those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
