ANIMAL CONTROL - DONATIONS

A HUGE thank you to the individual who so generously donated $750.00 to the health and welfare of our animal friends. These funds have been set aside to use strictly for veterinary care to help abused, injured and sick animals. If you would like to donate to the animal fund your donations can be dropped off at the Band Office. If you need services from animal control you can reach Samantha Brascoupe at 819-441-6218
CONSTRUCTION SEASON - EMPLOYMENT New housing and repair construction will be starting in the near future. If you are interested in working in this field please be sure to contact Janet Brascoupe, Employment Office at 819-449-5170 to have your name and contact information included on our employment list.

We would also like to congratulate and thank the foreman, Jonathan Cote and the assistant-foreman, Kyle McGregor for a job well-done! Every year, Rexforet selects one employee from each community and one for the province to receive a scholarship of Excellence. This is given to an employee is especially distinguished by the quality of his/her work and great motivation to the brush cutting training program.

The recipient of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg award of Excellence is Devin Whiteduck. Mr. Whiteduck received $100.00 and a commemorative jersey. The recipient of the provincial award of Excellence is Mr. Blake Chabot. Mr. Chabot received $1000.00 and a commemorative jersey. Mr. Chabot has shown that he posses the qualities necessary to perform his job in an exemplary fashion through his consistency and effort he applies to his work. This is the first time a Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg community member has received the provincial award. Congratulations!

1. Assert and Exercise Hunting and Fishing Rights (Date to be determined)

2. Canoe Journey to Ottawa (Working title: Paddling for Our Waters - Paddling from Wakefield into Ottawa on National Aboriginal Day Friday June 21st.)
Paddling our traditional waters for the protection of Our Waters - Our Life Lines. This one day event will ensure that both Youth and Seniors alike can be involved. It will bring people together for the LOVE of our waters. Upcoming meeting to be planned in Kitigan Zibi and Ottawa for this project.
