Objectives
• To train students on how to use headsets and microphones in order to improve self study.
• To help students focus on developing oral proficiency in the foreign language, and also to create stimulating classroom activities.
• To develop appropriate communication styles for a variety of situations. They should be able to detect opinions, attitudes, intentions of the speakers and moods in spoken and written English.

LAB USE AND POLICYGeneral Rules
The Linguistic Lab should be used with consideration for the needs of others and in ways that maintain a comfortable and functional work environment.
To that effect, users are requested:

1. Not to use the room unless specifically authorized to do so for a lab-related project directed by a Linguistics department member.
2. To share resources whenever possible.3. To refrain from eating and drinking in the
lab and to keep it clean.4. To refrain from modifying the computer
systems configurations and workstation appearance.
5. To ensure that the needs of the greatest number of users are met.

• Types of Language: local, formal, informal, popular, usual, solemn, familiar (sayings and proverbs), related to press and television, poetical, humorous, etc.
