LMBR Financial changes for NSW public schools - What is it?
LMBR stands for Learning Management and Business Reform.
The entire Department of Education is in the process of
implementing a modern, integrated IT system in human
resources, payroll, finance and student administration to
provide better service and value to staff, students, parents and
the community. It will impact on every facet of school life.
Among other things, LMBR will provide:
• Accurate reporting of financial operations.
• Better definition and reporting on services.
• A unique and secure student registration number and single
source of up-to-date information about our students.
• Increased and improved information about student
academic achievement and plans.
• Better tracking of important health, well-being and
emergency contact information.
Thanks to Jo Lane, Kelly Pacey and Julie Gooch for their
willingness to take on the significant retraining throughout
Term 2, to do with the implementing a standardised finance
system (SAP) and new financial processes as part of the
Learning Management and Business Reform. The new system
will go live on 4th September.
Family Support
Families are the first educators of their children and they
continue to influence their children’s learning and
development during the school years and long afterwards. This
is why it is important for families and schools to work together
in partnership and henceforth the interest to establish an
OOSH. OOSH stands for Out of School Hours childcare for
school aged children from Kinder to Year 6 providing a safe,

supervised caring environment from 2.45pm to
6.00pm.
We are interested to know your thoughts about the
possibility of setting up after school care at Scotts
Head Public School. A survey is attached to the
newsletter to find out if their is a need for an OOSH at
the school. We need a minimum of 30 students who
would access the service to apply for funding. Please
complete the survey attached to this newsletter and
return it the office by Friday 5th.
Thanks to all the students for the work that was
displayed in our entry into the Macksville Show.
Thanks to Bu Bettina and Mrs B for the time and
energy you put into putting the display together and
collection.

Aboriginal people are deeply connected to their land. Each clan
has a knowledge of their area and the season changes and signs
for that area.
Our latest project at school is to get the students through art
drawing with Nelli to identify and collate our local Indigenous
seasons.
Traditional knowledge, like that captured in these Indigenous
seasons calendars, can tell us much about the ecology of our local
area and have distinct ways of dividing the year up.

Indonesian Puppet Workshop Year 3 /4 and 5/6
Artist Jumsaadi Jumaadi will present a workshop to Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students
who are studying a Culture, Language, Arts in Schools Project (CLASP) visual arts unit
based on his work. He will present an overview of his personal work and facilitate
students creating individual shadow puppet characters and stories, subsequently
combining as a group to form a cohesive narrative whole. His teaching will also involve
techniques in modern shadow puppet creation, manipulation of light and shadows,
vocal and instrumental sound effects and using traditional arts forms in modern
contacts.
Jumaadi’s work was the basis for the CLASP visual arts unit and his experience moving
between cultures using creative process will be invaluable to the students’ experience.
Jumaadi is a successful artist who shows regularly at the Museum of Contemporary Art
in Sydney, and has participated in Australia’s group exhibition at the Moscow Biennale.

Weekly Round Up
On Monday 1st May, we travelled to Macksville High School to watch the
annual Year 10 Drama class performance. A mixture of puppet shows, circus
acts and clowns.
The puppet show featured a variety of topics and messages including fire
safety, bullying and road safety. The clowns were an absolute hit getting up to
all sorts of shenanigans. Lots of laughter in the audience and we were lucky
to meet the actors at the end of the show!
When we were getting out of the bus on our return to school the lovely bus
driver commented how well behaved students of SHPS are and are always a
pleasure to be with!
Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 Excursion to Macksville High School
This term as part of our Sporting Schools grant all
students will be participating in Tennis provided by a
local representative from Tennis Australia, Kylie Hunt.
Later in the term the Year 3/4 will be involved in a local
competition at Macksville Tennis Club in Week 8.
The tennis programs aim is to provide more
opportunities for people to play tennis more often and to
support students with movement confidence and
capabilities acquisition through structured and
unstructured play. There is a particular emphasis on
helping students understand the game of tennis as well
as being able to play a variety of modified tennis games
which are suited to the school environment.

Good luck to all our students who will be going to Bowraville on
Friday to compete in the District Cross Country. Thanks to all the
parents for providing transport on the day to make this opportunity
available for our students. This year due to the changes going on in
our school we will not be sending a teacher.
Any parents who are willing to help out on the day please let me
know as that would assist in the running of the event. Bu Gillian.
