Exactly when did 2011 begin to xceed Sanaa’ expectations? It’s
a hard question to answer. Sanaa came from the slums of Birming-ham to hitting big stages like the indigo 02 Arena in London, and she done it in the space of only a year, kind of what Drake done who is a big sensation globally right now. Some say Sanaa may even follow in his footsteps and some say she will make a breakthrough in America just like Tinie Tempah has done in recent months.
“The thing that makes her so special is that she is herself and doesn’t try to copy other big named artists”
A lot of UK female artists have re-cently been criticised for trying too hard to be like artists like; Beyonce, Keri Hilson, Mary J. Blige, and even Nicki Minaj. The thing that seems to make you hit the big time at this moment in time is being unique and being your own artist rather than a gimmick of someone who already exists, something X-Factor has con-stantly been blamed for doing as well as making the music industry look like an easy business to get into.
There hasn’t really been a female UK R’n’B or Rap Artist to fully rep-resent Great Britain and the hid-den talent that it has, maybe this is that time, but I hope Sanaa doesn’t think it’s going to be an easy ride with new comer Jessie J doing it “like a brother, do it like a dude”.
Sanaa has already been nominated for best female new comer at the MOBO Awards, and there are ru-mours going around that she has been having deep conversations with Birdman the Head Executive Tof Young Money and Cash Money Records. Signing with them would allow Sanaa’ to work alongside art-ists like Lil Wayne, Bow Wow, Drake, and fellow British artist Jay Sean.
