401(k) Plan
Eligible participants will receive a matching contribution (per calendar year) equal to:
(i) 50% of the first $2,000 contributed to the Plan by the participant plus,
(ii) 25% of the next $4,000 contributed to the Plan by the participant.
Matching calculations will be made for all active and participating employees as of December 31
Examples:• If the employee contributes $1,000 to the Plan, Altair will provide a matching
contribution $500.• If the employee contributes $1,500 to the Plan, Altair will provide a matching
contribution of $750.• If the employee contributes $6,000 or more to the Plan, Altair will provide a
matching contribution of $1,000 + $1,000 or $2,000.
** Every Friday of each week J.P. Morgan’s system is updated with Altair new employees. Employees are emailed their 401k packet to their Altair email address and that information will provide their log in details. If the Altair email address bounces back, the employee will be mailed a physical packet with their login details. The employee will have 45 days to opt out of the plan; otherwise they will be automatically enrolled at 3% of total earnings.

2014 Paid Time Off
Paid Time Off: (B-Hourly Package Only)
Full-time employees who are employed as of January 1st of any given year are entitled to
ten (20) PTO days (160 PTO hours) for that year.
Those who join Altair in any month subsequent will receive a pro-rated amount of PTO
hours for their first employment year equal to 13.34 hours per month commencing with
the first day of the month coinciding with or immediately following the date on which
employment begins.
Any remaining PTO at the end of the year will not carry over, however will be paid out to
you in your January 23rd Paycheck.
PTO is PRO-RATED and ACRRUED
If you use more than you have
accrued during the year and you
leave Altair with a negative PTO
balance, you will be responsible for
paying this back to Altair.

Employee Referrals
Altair employees can benefit from the internal employee referral program wherein all
employees can refer friends and acquaintances for all full-time in-house and on-site
positions (excluding interns/co-ops, temporary, and part-time positions).
• The referral bonus amount is $1,000 per hire for regular, full-time placements in-
house and on-site. For a current employee who refers a candidate that has
identified a position, the referral bonus amount is $500 per hire.
• The bonus is payable on the 8th paycheck following the referral's 90th day of work
(no bonus is paid if the referral terminates prior to 90 days -- for any reason).
• In order to receive the bonus, the referring employee and the referee both must be
employed by Altair at the time the check is payable.
Each referral received will be checked against the recruiting resume database. The referred
resume must not exist in that database one year prior to the referral. If it is contained in the
database it is not considered a new referral.
Managers and recruiters are excluded from the referral program (though they are always
encouraged to refer candidates).

Other LeavesMaternity Leave:
Every full-time female employee, who has already completed one year of service (and has worked at least 1,250 hours in that year) will be entitled to six weeks paid maternity leave.
Paternity Leave:
Every full-time male employee shall be entitled to one (1) week paid leave upon the birth of his child.
Jury Duty:
An employee who has been called for jury duty should inform management as soon as possible. The Company will pay employees the difference between the employee's regular salary and the jury fee during that time. Employees are to supply a statement from the court certifying the time spent and the jury duty fees received. While on jury duty, the employee's service will be protected from any loss time.
Bereavement Leave:
In the event of death of an employee's immediate family member, the company will provide bereavement leave five (5) working days at any one time.
Immediate family members are defined as spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters and grandparents, and your spouse's parents and grandparents. Where extensive travel is necessary, up to two (2) additional working days may be approved.

An employee’s benefits are effective on their date of hire. You will be responsible for
paying your Premiums effective your Hire date and not your enrollment date.
All benefit enrollments (including flexible spending accounts) MUST be completed within 30
days of your date of hire. Should you enroll for your benefits towards the 30 day mark, it will
be retroactive back to your start date.

Altair Health Services
Diane Towers is the nurse practitioner for Altair Health Services, located at
Altair’s corporate headquarters in Troy, Michigan.
Altair Health Services can be utilized by employees, spouses and
dependent children. The services available include, but not limited to:

Short-Term Disability Insurance

The short-term disability coverage is self-funded by Altair Engineering, Inc. and its

Long-Term Disability Insurance
After short term disability is exhausted, long-term disability will take effect and be paid at
60% of your monthly earnings to a maximum benefit of $15,000 per month.

will be provided with long-term disability coverage at a minimal cost to the employee.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
This is a voluntary benefit Altair offers employees the ability to pay for certain health care
and dependent care expenses tax-free. Please refer to the enclosed summary and
enrollment forms for more information.
Note, if you opt out of medical insurance you are still eligible for Flexible Spending Accounts but you
MUST opt in to FSA to receive coverage when going through the on-line Benefits Enrollment process.
Health Care Reimbursement:
This account enables employees to deduct a maximum of $2500 per calendar year on a
pre-tax basis for any costs incurred that are not covered by medical or dental insurances.
**Altair has adopted the $500 rollover rule, for Health Care Reimbursement ONLY. Employees participating in FSA
will be allowed to roll over up to $500 of unused funds effective April 1st, 2015.
Dependent Care Reimbursement:
This enables employees to receive reimbursement for certain dependent care expenses for
eligible children and/or other eligible dependents. These expenses must be incurred to

Pay Day & Paychecks
Pay Day:
Employees are paid semi-monthly. The two pay periods are as follows:
• Pay period from the 1st through 15th of the month will be paid by the 23rd of that month.
• Pay period from the 16th through the end of the month will be paid by the 8th of the
following month.
If the 8th or 23rd of the month falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, pay day will be the
preceding business day.
Paychecks:
First and last paychecks are live (paper) checks sent to your home address or if
requested can be picked up at headquarters from our Payroll Department.
All paychecks following, will be directly deposited into the account you selected during
orientation.

Timecard Entry – Overview and Getting Started
As an Altair Engineering employee, you are required to input your work hours on the AltairNet at least twice a month: once on the 15th and again on the last day of the month. Once entered you must submit your timecard (dates subject to change based on the monthly schedule)
1. Upon receipt of your Onsite Information Form, you will receive (within 2-3
business days) your login and temporary password to AltairHR.
2.Once logged in, click on the Timecard link as shown in the figure below.
It is recommended that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox)

*You may enter your hours daily and select save (not submit) until the timecard is due, you will receive email reminders
near and on the due date. You can click submit when you receive an email from payroll stating all timecards are due. If
you do accidently submit your timecard, you do have the ability to withdraw it.

3. Click in the timecard “cells”. Hours can be entered using decimal spaces or “hour:
minute” format (6.5 or 6:30).
4. To move around between the cells, you can click on the next desired cell or you can
use the TAB or ENTER keys.

on when the timecard is due for that pay period.

If the Client has an internal timecard system, always submit timecard on a weekly basis.
• ZeroChaos - Chrysler (receive login from manager)
• Beeline/Allegis – GM (Employee Relations Manager will send you your login and Password, your work order
number will come from your Manager at GM)
• B2B – Ford (receive from manager)
• S-Pro – Navistar (receive from manager)
All employees working on a PO will need to submit a Manager signed timecard. Click the
Signature/CSS link under Help to print out your timecard (see Altair timecard instructions).
If you DO NOT submit hours through an electronic client system & are working on a PO, please
follow these steps to get Manager approval of your hours:
• Print or scan and email form located under Signature/CSS link (left side under HELP).
OR
• Have your Manager sign or electronically approve hours at the end of each pay period or week
(Managers preference).
• FAX the form back ATTN: PAYROLL to 866-738-9629 or scan and email with as follows:
• Subject: [Name] approved timecard for pay period [date]
• Send to [email protected]
Note: Altair only requires semi-monthly approval, therefore weekly approvals can be sent at the end of each pay period.

Overtime Overview
You are not eligible to receive Overtime until you have worked 40 hours in the week.
• The Altair system requires OT to be separated out manually.
• Even if the pay period ends in the middle of the week, the timecards should still be submitted
with OT at the end of the week. The OT hours will be paid out in your next paycheck.

should help you better understand how overtime should be listed.

Altair Procurement Overview
Altair Procurement application allows employees to create, submit, track and
approve expense reports and purchase requisitions online. It is accessible from
AltairNet.
An expense report is used to submit requests for reimbursement of employee-
paid expenses, as well as reporting transactions made by employees using a
company credit card.
