PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents, Caregivers and
Community Members
Congratulations!
On behalf of the school community, I
would like to congratulate the
Councillors, Peer Mediators and
Faction Captains and Vice Captains for
their election into these leadership
roles. These students received their
badges and certificates at the assembly
held on 18 February and they have all
commenced their duties and
responsibilities with efficiency and
effectiveness. I look forward to their
continued contributions to Rossmoyne
Primary School throughout 2016.
Public Holidays and School

Day staff were involved in professional
learning in a range of areas including
HASS (History and Social Sciences),
anaphylaxis, iPads and MacBooks.

School Board
Thank you to all who nominated for the
two casual Parent Representative
vacancies on our School Board and to
all those who chose to participate in the
election process. The successful
nominees will be included in the next
newsletter. They will join Rowan
Stokes, John Coombe, Vilma Velletri
and George Atartis as your Parent
Representatives.
The first School Board meeting for the
year is on Monday 14 March at 7.30
pm. The agenda will include the
Community Use of School Facilities,
advertising, 2015 to 2018 School Plan
and a finance update.
Visiting School
All parents and carers are reminded to
please sign in at the front office if you
are visiting your child or going to assist
in their classroom or other area of the
school. As your child/ren’s safety is of
paramount importance to us, we need
to know who is on school site at all
times. Additionally, signing in ensures
we can ensure the safety of all visitors
in the event of a lockdown or
evacuation.
Children’s Medical Conditions
If your child’s medical conditions have
changed, please ensure you advise the
front office.
Bike Locks
If your child/ren ride their bike to
school, please remember to send a
bike lock with them so they can secure
their bike throughout the school day.
Swimming Trials and Carnival
Sincere thanks to Mr Wilson for his
efforts organising these events which
ran smoothly and successfully. Thanks
also to all the parents who assisted and
came to spectate and cheer. Our
students are to be commended on their
exceptional behaviour, sportsmanship
and perseverance and our Year 6
Fac t ion Capta ins a re to be
congratulated on the responsible
leadership they displayed.
Contributions and Charges
Thank you to the families who have
already made the effort to pay the
Contributions and Charges for this year
so promptly. If you are still to pay,
please consider completing this by the
end of term as it saves us having to
send out reminder letters.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Thank you to all parents and carers
who were able to attend the recent
Parent Teacher Meetings. Your
interest and involvement is greatly
appreciated. I encourage all parents to
maintain regular contact with your
child’s teacher throughout the
remainder of the year.

Happy Year of the Monkey!
The LOTE assembly was held on 18 February and was
facilitated by Year Six Students. The assembly items includ-
ed a play “Pulling the Carrot” performed by some Year
Three students, and a Chinese ethnic group costume pa-
rade performed by some Year Six students with great enthusiasm.
I was the grandpa in the play. I felt very excited to have the opportunity to act in the play. It was fun to learn Chinese and I
felt good when I understood the song and knew what to do. (Christopher, Room 19)
I learnt to say Chinese loudly, clearly and confidently. I felt excited before the assembly, but was nervous when I performed.
(Grace, Room 19 and Aimee, Room 10)
It was fascinating learning about the heritage of all the costumes. When I stepped on the stage, I was so nervous but it all
went fine. It was heaps of fun! (Isobel, Room 24)
I was modelling the Yi nationality costume. My skirt was long, colourful and beautiful. I volunteered to have a go because
my goal is to be confident in front of a big crowd, and I achieved my goal! I felt very proud of myself. Thank you to Mrs Foo
for giving me the opportunity to perform. (Tania, Room 25
I learnt a lot about people in China, their culture and lifestyle. Mia and I modelled the Mongolian dresses. Mine was red and
had a belt. It was absolutely gorgeous with an amazing head piece. I wanted to participate because I like to dress up and I
wasn’t nervous at all. (Bridget, Room 25)
The assembly was entertaining and I think lots of people learnt something new. As an announcer, I thought I was going to
mess everything up but in the end it turned out fine. Overall, I think it was a fun assembly and I can’t wait to perform at
Rossmoyne Senior High School. (Evander, Room 26)
Modelling the Tibetan dress was a new experience for me. I especially liked the dress because it had double length sleeves
that can be removed or added when needed. I felt confident walking down the runway, posing as I went. When I turned
back I walking with pride. (Alison, Room 24)
Our LOTE assembly was amazing! Showing off the costumes in a fashion show was a great idea. There were bright col-
ours and smiles everywhere. (Acasia, Room 24)
