Scope and Objectives
The ongoing adverse changes in our ecosystem and health areoften found inseparable. A few to mention here are: climatechange, ecosystem damage, massive losses in biodiversity, oceanwarming, soil degradation and industrial pollution. They arecausing havoc on our planet and ill-health to its inhabitants.Further, urbanization coupled with nuclear families with a raise inincome is also driving a global dietary transition wherein traditionaldiets are found replaced by diets higher in refined sugars, fats,oils and junk foods. In the coming thirty years i.e., by 2050, thesedietary trends, if unchecked, would be a major contributor to anestimated 80 % increase in global greenhouse gas emissionsand ill-health. Moreover, these dietary shifts are the cause togreatly increase the occurrence of type II diabetes, coronary heartdisease, liver malfunctions, mental derailment, anguish, angerand other chronic non-communicable diseases that lower globallife expectancies and global economy.
Global health strategies with multi-interdisciplinary topics througha unique podium as conceived in the present internationalconference will be focussed to address the Long SustainableLiving Plan.
The challenges associated with genome programming to avertneurodegenerative disorders that are in vogue are reprogrammingsomatic cells to pluripotency by different methods namely somaticcell nuclear transfer, fusion of somatic and pluripotent cells anddirect reprogramming of adult somatic cells to induced neurons.The clinical manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases andthe applications of the gene-editing technology would beemphasized and deliberated in the conference.
One of the measures for the ecosystem security in sustainabledevelopment pathways is to conceptualize the link between
biodiversity (i.e. genes, traits, species, niche and habitat) and humanwell-being (health, wealth, security and attitude). The absence ofthis link would inadvertently lead to mutilate biodiversity and humanhealth. Such an absence of link would invariably lock human well-being at its minimum levels. It may also cause reverse progress inachieving sustainable development.

Therefore, key aspects of deliberations in the second satelliteconference would be on fostering biodiversity, human participation,ecosystem sustainability and development, knowhow, environmentalentitlements and health.

About ABAP
The Association of Biotechnology and Pharmacy (ABAP) wasestablished in the year 2007 for the development of science in boththese areas. The principal objective of ABAP is to form a forum forscientists so as to bring them together to discuss and find scientificsolutions to the contemporary issues in the society. The annualmeetings of ABAP help the members to interact, induct youngaspirants, exchange the knowledge, explore the future research needs,solve the local issues and publish their findings. The associationorganizes symposia, seminars and workshop on current developmentsof Biotechnology and Pharmacy, particularly on the subject of currentscientific interest in Schools and Universities across India. In viewof the vast development in the dissemination of research work, aninternational journal of Current Trends in Biotechnology and Pharmacywas started by ABAP (ISSN: 0973 8916-Print; 22307303-Online).

Abstracts of 300 - 350 words are invited through email([email protected]) only in MS word format. Abstractssubmitted for competitive session should specify under whichcategory it is being submitted. Department of Biotechnology
Department of Biotechnology at VFSTR was established in the year2006. It fosters quality education, placements and industrial trainingto students. Further, it supports the rural development activity bypromoting the cultivation of medicinal plants and mushrooms to thelocal farmers. Department is very well established with COE, animalcell culture facility, bioprocess laboratory, plant tissue culture lab,animal house, clean room, biogas plant (gas feeding to hostel kitchen)and an ample strength of students ( 600 no.) and faculty. The departmentis supported by DST FIST and 10 research projects to the tune of Rs.2.00 crores. NMPB, New Delhi recommended Medicinal herbal gardenat our Campus. Department offers B.Tech (Biotech and Bioinformatics),B.Tech. (Hons), M.Tech and Ph.D. Programs.
