International Conference on “Environmental Sustainability, Human Health and Development” Satellite Conferences Challenges associated with genome reprogramming in neurodegenerative disorders & Biodiversity and Human Interactions: New Discoveries and Insights from Bioeconomy Perspective Scope and Objectives The ongoing adverse changes in our ecosystem and health are often found inseparable. A few to mention here are: climate change, ecosystem damage, massive losses in biodiversity, ocean warming, soil degradation and industrial pollution. They are causing havoc on our planet and ill-health to its inhabitants. Further, urbanization coupled with nuclear families with a raise in income is also driving a global dietary transition wherein traditional diets are found replaced by diets higher in refined sugars, fats, oils and junk foods. In the coming thirty years i.e., by 2050, these dietary trends, if unchecked, would be a major contributor to an estimated 80 % increase in global greenhouse gas emissions and ill-health. Moreover, these dietary shifts are the cause to greatly increase the occurrence of type II diabetes, coronary heart disease, liver malfunctions, mental derailment, anguish, anger and other chronic non-communicable diseases that lower global life expectancies and global economy. Global health strategies with multi-interdisciplinary topics through a unique podium as conceived in the present international conference will be focussed to address the Long Sustainable Living Plan. The challenges associated with genome programming to avert neurodegenerative disorders that are in vogue are reprogramming somatic cells to pluripotency by different methods namely somatic cell nuclear transfer, fusion of somatic and pluripotent cells and direct reprogramming of adult somatic cells to induced neurons. The clinical manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases and the applications of the gene-editing technology would be emphasized and deliberated in the conference. One of the measures for the ecosystem security in sustainable development pathways is to conceptualize the link between biodiversity (i.e. genes, traits, species, niche and habitat) and human well-being (health, wealth, security and attitude). The absence of this link would inadvertently lead to mutilate biodiversity and human health. Such an absence of link would invariably lock human well- being at its minimum levels. It may also cause reverse progress in achieving sustainable development. Human Development = Foster Biodiversity + Human Well Being Therefore, key aspects of deliberations in the second satellite conference would be on fostering biodiversity, human participation, ecosystem sustainability and development, knowhow, environmental entitlements and health. The principal objective of ABAP is to form a forum for scientists so as to bring them together to discuss and find scientific solutions to the contemporary issues in the society. The annual meetings of ABAP help the members to interact, induct young aspirants, exchange the knowledge, explore the future research needs, solve the local issues and publish their findings. The association organizes symposia, seminars and workshop on current developments of Biotechnology and Pharmacy, particularly on the subject of current scientific interest in Schools and Universities across India. In view of the vast development in the dissemination of research work, an international journal of Current Trends in Biotechnology and Pharmacy was started by ABAP (ISSN: 0973 8916-Print; 22307303-Online). Submission of Abstracts: Abstracts of 300 - 350 words are invited through email ( [email protected]) only in MS word format. Abstracts submitted for competitive session should specify under which category it is being submitted. Scope and Objectives

The ongoing adverse changes in our ecosystem and health areoften found inseparable. A few to mention here are: climatechange, ecosystem damage, massive losses in biodiversity, oceanwarming, soil degradation and industrial pollution. They arecausing havoc on our planet and ill-health to its inhabitants.Further, urbanization coupled with nuclear families with a raise inincome is also driving a global dietary transition wherein traditionaldiets are found replaced by diets higher in refined sugars, fats, oils and junk foods. In the coming thirty years i.e., by 2050, thesedietary trends, if unchecked, would be a major contributor to anestimated 80 % increase in global greenhouse gas emissionsand ill-health. Moreover, these dietary shifts are the cause togreatly increase the occurrence of type II diabetes, coronary heartdisease, liver malfunctions, mental derailment, anguish, angerand other chronic non-communicable diseases that lower globallife expectancies and global economy.

Global health strategies with multi-interdisciplinary topics througha unique podium as conceived in the present internationalconference will be focussed to address the Long SustainableLiving Plan.

The challenges associated with genome programming to avertneurodegenerative disorders that are in vogue are reprogrammingsomatic cells to pluripotency by different methods namely somaticcell nuclear transfer, fusion of somatic and pluripotent cells anddirect reprogramming of adult somatic cells to induced neurons. The clinical manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases andthe applications of the gene-editing technology would beemphasized and deliberated in the conference.

One of the measures for the ecosystem security in sustainabledevelopment pathways is to conceptualize the link between

biodiversity (i.e. genes, traits, species, niche and habitat) and humanwell-being (health, wealth, security and attitude). The absence ofthis link would inadvertently lead to mutilate biodiversity and humanhealth. Such an absence of link would invariably lock human well-being at its minimum levels. It may also cause reverse progress inachieving sustainable development.

Human Development =Foster Biodiversity + Human Well Being

Therefore, key aspects of deliberations in the second satelliteconference would be on fostering biodiversity, human participation, ecosystem sustainability and development, knowhow, environmentalentitlements and health.

To provide high quality academic programmes, training activities, research facilities and opportunities supported by continuous industry- institute interaction aimed at promoting employability, entrepreneurship, leadership and research aptitude among studentsand contribute to the economic and technological development of theregion, state and nation.

Department of Biotechnology

Department of Biotechnology at VFSTR was established in the year2006. It fosters quality education, placements and industrial trainingto students. Further, it supports the rural development activity bypromoting the cultivation of medicinal plants and mushrooms to thelocal farmers. Department is very well established with COE, animalcell culture facility, bioprocess laboratory, plant tissue culture lab, animal house, clean room, biogas plant (gas feeding to hostel kitchen)and an ample strength of students ( 600 no.) and faculty. The departmentis supported by DST FIST and 10 research projects to the tune of Rs.2.00 crores. NMPB, New Delhi recommended Medicinal herbal gardenat our Campus. Department offers B.Tech (Biotech and Bioinformatics),B.Tech. (Hons), M.Tech and Ph.D. Programs.
