Your Shark® Navigator Upright is easy to assemble:
1 Layyourvacuumbodyonalevelsurface.
2 Slidetheelectricalconnectionfromthepowernozzleintothemainbodytoclickintoplace.
3 Connectthehosefromthemainbodytothepowernozzle;pushwithaslightturningmotiontocreateasnugfit.
4 Slidethehandleassemblyintotheuprightunitaligningthehosehookonthehandleassemblywiththepowercordhooksonthebackoftheunit.
5 Securethehandleassemblyinplacewithincludednut/bolt(shippedattachedtohandleassembly).
6 Placethevacuumintheuprightposition.
7 StoretheCreviceTool,DustingBrushandCleaningWandontheunit.
8 AttachtheSuperStretchHose:
a)Snaphoseintoswivelconnector
b)Routeunderanti-tiphook
c)Routeoverupperhoseholder
d)Presssecurelyontocleaningwand
IMPORTANT:Topreventvacuumfromtipping,securehoseundertheanti-tiphosehook.
9 Whenstoringyourvacuum,windcordaroundthetwocordholdersandsecurewithcordclip:
•QuickCordreleaseatthetopoftheunit–placeintheuprightposition.
•Secondholdernearthebase–turnuntilitispointingdown.
Toreleasethecord,turntheQuickCordreleasetotheleftorright.
IMPORTANT:ForsuctiontoreachtheFloorPowerNozzle,theCleaningWandandSuperStretchHosemustbeattachedsecurelyonthevacuumbody.

1 Using the Super Stretch Hose:
Standthevacuumintouprightposition.
RemovethehosefromtheCleaningWand.
Pushtheselectedtoolintothehoseconnector.

YourShark®NavigatorUprightVacuumisaversatiletoolthatcanbeusedtocleanbarefloorsurfacesorcarpets–withtheclickofaswitch.
Standthevacuumintotheuprightposition.
Pluginthevacuum.
1 StartwiththePowerSwitchinthe“O Off”position.
2 PlaceyourfootontheFloorPowerNozzleandpullhandletowardsyou.
3 SetthePowerSwitchtodesiredcleaningsetting.
4 When cleaning bare floors:
Selectthe“I On”positionforsuctiononlycleaningtoavoidscatteringdirtwhilecleaning.
When cleaning carpets:
Ensureyouhavepulledthehandletowardsyouandselectthe“II Brush Roll On”positiontoagitatethecarpetfibersfordeepercleaningperformance.
IMPORTANT:Toprotectyourcarpets,theBrushRollwillonlyturnonwhenyouhavepulledthehandlebacktowardsyouandreleasedtheFloorPowerNozzle.
IMPORTANT:YourBrushRollIndicatorLightwillilluminatesolidgreenwhenbrushrollison,orsolidredifthereisablockage.ThisfeatureisdesignedtoprotectyourLifetimeBeltthatpowersyourBrushRoll.See Checking for Blockages on page 11.
NOTE:Theheightofyourpowernozzlehasbeenoptimizedforeasypushingandsuperiorclean-ingonallfloortypes,sothereisnoneedtomakeanyheightadjustmentsasyoutransitiontodifferentfloor&carpettypes.

1 Cleaning the Cyclonic Chamber: Option A:QuickEmpty PresstheCyclonicChamberreleasebuttonatthetopoftheDustCup
AssemblyandliftopentheDustCuplid. RemovetheCyclonicChamberfromtheDustCupAssembly. InserttheCyclonicChamberdeepinsidetrashreceptacletocontaindust.
PresstheCyclonicChamberReleaseButtontoopenandremovethebottomdoor.
TapcleantheopenCyclonicChambertoreleasedustandthenattachandclosebottomdoor.
Important:BecarefulnottodamagethemetalscreenonthebottomoftheCyclonicChamberwhenemptying.TearingorchangingtheshapeofthisscreenmaydisrupttheadvancedcyclonicactionanddecreasetheperformanceofyourDustCup–requiringmorefrequentemptyingoftheCyclonicChamber.
ReturnCyclonicChambertoDustCupAssemblyandcloseDustCuplid. DO NOToperateyourvacuumwithouttheCyclonicChamberinplace.
Doingsowouldrequiremorefrequentwashingofthefoamfilers,andcoulddecreasethelifeofyourvacuum.
Option B:AllergySufferers CarrytheDustCupAssemblyandatrashbagoutsideofyourhome. FollowtheinstructionsaboveforOptionA,butinsteadofinserting
CyclonicChamberintoatrashreceptaclewrapthetrashbagaroundtheCyclonicChamber.
2 Washing the Foam and Felt Filters: RemovetheFoamandtheFeltFiltersfromtheFilterHolder. Rinseinlukewarmwateruntilthewaterrunsclear. Squeezefiltersandletairdryfor24hoursbeforereplacing;donot
usehairdryerorotherheatingmethodstodry.Inserttheincludedreplacementfilterswhileothersaredrying.
DO NOToperatethevacuumwithoutALLthefiltersinplace. DO NOToperatethevacuumwithWETfilters. Note:Your2whitefoamsandotherfilterswilldiscolorovertime;thisis
normalandwillnotaffecttheperformanceofthefilters.
Note:ItisNOTrecommendedtorinsethewovenexhaustfilterlocatedonthefrontoftheunit.Thisfilterwillcontinuetolastthelifetimeofyourvacuum.

ForbestresultsemptytheDustCupAssemblyaftereachuse;emptysev-eraltimesduringprolongedusage.
OremptytheDustCupAssemblywhenitreachestheMAXfillline;NEVER OVER-FILL THE DUST CUP.
Standvacuumintouprightposition.
Turnvacuumoff.
Forpropercare,consultthetabletotherightforthemaintenancescheduleofyourCyclonicChamberandFilters.
Lockvacuumintouprightposition.
Turnvacuumoff.
RemoveDustCupAssembly.
To empty the Dust Cup Assembly:
1 GripcarryhandleandpresstheDustCupreleasebuttontoremoveDustCupAssembly
2 Option A:forQuickEmpty:InsertDustCupAssemblydeepinsidetrashreceptacletocontaindustanddebris.
PresstheDustCupDoorreleasebutton;tapcontainergentlytodislodgeandreleasedustanddebris.
Snapdoorinplace.
Important:IftheDustCupDoordoesnotswingopenafterpressingthereleasebutton,pushthedooropenusingthebottomdoortabs.
CAUTION: Unplugthevacuum;failuretodosomightresultinelectricshock.

3 Option B:ForAllergySufferers:WrapatrashbagaroundtheDustCupAssemblyleavingspaceatthebottomforthedoortoswingopen.
LocatetheDustCupDoorreleasebuttonwithinthetrashbagandpresstoreleaseasyoushakethedustcuptoemptydustanddebris.
Snapthebottomdoorinplace.
Note:OptionBcanalsobeperformedoutsideofthehometofurtherminimizereleasingdustbackintotheair.CarryjusttheDustCupAssemblyandtrashbagoutside.
Note:Somedustanddebrismayremaininthetopofyourdustcupassemblyonornearthemetalscreen.Itisnotnecessarytocompletelyremovethismaterialbeforecontinuingtovacuum;Shark®advancedcyclonicactionwillsweepthemetalscreencleanonceyoubegintorefillyourdustcup.

Blockagesmaycauseyourvacuumtooverheatandshutdown.Ifso,cleartheblockages,thenfollowtheinstructionsforResetting the Motor Thermostatonpage12.

RemovehosefromboththeunitandCleaningWandends.
Inspectbothendsandthelengthofthehoseforclogs.
Returnthehosetotheunit.

Maintenance
Resetting the Motor Thermostat
YourShark®UprightVacuumisequippedwithaprotectiveMotorThermostat.Ifthemotorshouldoverheat,thethermostatshutsoffthepower.
To reset the Motor Thermostat:
MovethePowerButtontothe“O – Off”position.
Unplugthevacuum.
Checkforcloggedhoseorfilter;uncloghoseandreplacefilter.RefertoChecking for Blockagesonpage11.
Wait45minutesforvacuumtocool;thenpluginthevacuum.
TurnthePowerSwitchtothe“I – On”positiontostartthevacuum.
Note:ifvacuumstilldoesnotstart,call08008620453.
