ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
Administrative Program Specialist (working title Production Manager)
POSITION TITLE: Teaching Academic Staff, Administrative Program Specialist, 100%twelve-month appointment (two-year appointment renewable)
STARTING DATE: August 19, 2013
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Production Manager: The successful candidate will serve as
Production Manager for all departmental production activity, including
showings, interdisciplinary collaborations (musical theatre, etc.),
partnerships, co-productions, guest artists/companies, etc, including
but not limited to the following duties: Schedule and facilitate alldesign and production meetings. Recruit, hire, oversee all production
staff. Schedule, coordinate, budget, and track all production activity.Coordinate/execute the move, load-in, installation, and strike of
portable dance floor and all sound, projection, and lighting equipment
including rentals as needed. Advocate and negotiate production needs
with faculty teaching during the day in the production/classroom
spaces.
Artistic: Serve as Production Stage Manager or Technical Director OR
design scenery, sound, lighting or costumes for departmental
productions.
Teaching: Teach at least one course each semester (fall, spring and
summer). Develop new courses in area(s) of expertise.
Other: Participate in Faculty Meetings, Student Advising and serve on
Departmental Committees.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum: Candidate must have Bachelors degree (in any Theatreand/or Dance and/or Performing Arts production or design field). The
successful candidate should have a minimum of five years of
professional experience as production manager for university orprofessional theatre and/or dance company. A minimum of three years
in one of the fieldslighting design, scenic design, costume design,
sound design, stage management, technical directionis also required,
including a substantive history of developing new works, integrating
emerging technologies and participating in interdisciplinary
collaborations. Minimum of three years university-level teaching
experience.
Preferred: Masters degree (in any Theatre and/or Dance and/orPerforming Arts production or design field. Significant experience with
following software applications: Isadora, motion-capture systems,
video and interactive technology.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

GENERAL UWM INFORMATION: UWM is one of two doctoral-granting institutions in the University of
Wisconsin System and offers 184 degree programs including 96
undergraduate degrees, 55 masters degrees, 1 specialist program and32 doctoral programs, through 14 schools and colleges. The 93-acre
main campus, just blocks from Lake Michigan, is located in aresidential neighborhood on Milwaukees east side, offering faculty,
staff, and students a wide range of cultural, athletic, and
entertainment opportunities. The Peck School is Wisconsins leading
comprehensive arts education institution. The school's alumni in the
fields of art and design, dance, film, music, and theatre have played
influential roles in arts organizations, schools, and businesses,
particularly in Milwaukee and Wisconsin but also across the country
and throughout the world for nearly 50 years. The school also offers
more than 350 dance, music, and theatre performances, film
screenings, and art exhibitions each year and has extensive
partnerships throughout its community and region. This year, about
1870 studentsundergraduate, graduate, and certificatestudied andworked with 70 faculty and 170 instructional staff members in the
Peck School.
Dept. of Dance Information: The Department of Dance has 130 majors and offers the following
programs of study: Dance BA; two Tracks in Dance BFA Performance &Choreography: Contemporary Dance and Africa and the Diaspora
Dance, MFA in Performing Arts: Dance; Somatics Minor; and Early
Childhood through Adolescence Wisconsin teacher certification.
Produced each year are 2-5 faculty/guest artist concerts, 2-4 student
concerts, and 7-15 class showings. Primary performance facility is a
400-seat adaptable theatre generally used in a modified proscenium
setup with 400 dimmers, Ion control console, Yamaha digital mixer,
and full complement of lighting and sound equipment. One secondaryspace is 110-seat black box theatre with more limited lighting and
sound equipment, with additional performances and showings in
alternate venues or site-specific locations.
