About the Faculty• The Faculty of Philosophy was founded in 1954. • With the Faculty of Agriculture, it is one of the oldest faculties of

the University of Novi Sad.• There are 330 full-time professors and teaching associates,

with 95 employed as non-teaching staff.

The Faculty of Philosophy is located in the University Campus, together with other

faculties, student dormitories, the student health centre, sports facilities, etc.

• 1 undergraduate course: Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting

• 4th year, C2 level, 6 ESPB

• Whirlwind intro to professional practice, EU institutions and terminology databases, Rozan note-taking, building-blocks of simultaneous

• 2 master’s courses:• Advanced translation

(translating and interpreting with EU focus)

• Information technology and translating (currently written only, EU focus)

• STRENGTHS• huge student interest in

interpreting-related courses

• instructors with extensive interpreting and translating experience

• WEAKNESSES• vast majority of students

unfamiliar with EU before course, knowledge gaps

• no booths for simultaneous (iPod used as stopgap)

• little higher coordination, too much depends on individual teacher initiative

• continuing training left to teacher’s own initiative
