From the Pastor’s Desk…
The Feast of Christ the King This weekend, we are celebrating the Feast of Christ the King, marking the end of this liturgical year. Today, the whole world stands still and bows to Christ, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Beginning and the End. Today, the first and second readings bear testimony to the Kingship of Christ. Daniel prophesied about Jesus’ eternal kingdom of peace, while John called Him “the first born of all creation…the Alpha and the Omega.” Both readings also remind us that His kingdom is of justice, love, truth, and peace. In the Gospel today, Jesus says, “My kingdom does not belong to this world.” The priorities and values of His kingdom are different from that of the world’s. The Kingdom of God has been planted in our hearts when we were baptized. It is not a “place” that we hope to be in or expect to be in only when we die. We are in it right now, but only if we follow the example of our King, Jesus Christ. If we want to belong to God’s Kingdom, we must fol-low Jesus’ example of love and service. We must allow the Holy Spirit to root out all things or situations that hamper Jesus’ reign in our lives. Per-haps we can all ask ourselves: How am I contributing to making God’s King-dom come to its completion in myself, in my family, my neighborhood, my workplace, and in the whole world? God bless you,
Fr. John Francis

Solemnity of Christ the King
FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING This Sunday will be the last Sunday in this year’s liturgical or church year for Cycle B. It is the great Feast of Christ the King. From His birth, Jesus came to bring us a new kingdom with values and principles quite different from those of all of the kings found in the Old Testament. We meditate on this reality when we pray the third Mystery of Light. At the end of time, Jesus our King will return to gather this transformed kingdom and presented to His Father. One of our children will be dressed as Christ the King and some children will carry banners depicting some of the values and principles of the kingdom that Jesus has established. We are all called to work at bringing this kingdom to fulfillment.
DIVINO NIÑO On the third Friday of every month the Parish celebrates the No-vena of the Divine Child. This Devotion has spread throughout the world Jesus said whatever you ask in the name of my infancy I will answer. There have been countless miracles, on Friday we listened to a Jewish man tell us how he had suffered for nine months from a serious liver disease. It came to the point that the doctor sadly had to inform him that unless he would get a liver transplant he had no more than 2 weeks to live. His mother in law and family have a very great devotion to the Divine Child. They prayed incessantly and the very next day the doctor received the call that a liver trans-plant was available from a young girl 22 years old that had died. The next day December 24th he was operated and he became a new man. A miracle had happened. Jesus wants to work miracles in our lives. Won’t you think of coming to join our parish community; bring your intentions and needs to the Divine Child the next cele-bration will be Friday, December 21 at 7pm in the Church.
God bless you! Sister Alice Michael, S.U.S.C. Director of Faith Formation
