Marasmius jalapensis – found on decaying wood throughout the neotropics.
Schizophyllum commune – very widespread. Also called xikin che, it is sometimes eaten in Belize.
Cookeina sulcipes – abundant on wood in the neotropics.
Cookeina tricholoma – a common wood-decay fungus.
Phillipsia domingensis Lepista nuda – occurring both in tropical and temperate regions.
Cordyceps melolonthae – frequently found on buried insects.
Macrolepiota sp. – one of the largest Chiquibul fungi, its name still needs to be found.
Geastrum saccatum – an “earthstar”, the spore powder has been used to heal the umbilical cord of newborns.
Cyathus berkeleyanus – a “bird’s nest fungus” that is widespread in the tropics.
