I am handling the business process for a real estate client at KPMG. At RICS SBE, we were taught that ‘one size fits all’ do not apply while handling clients, you have to analyze each client’s needs and then provide solutions. Planning & Programming (MICROSOFT PROJECT and BIM) client handling skills and cost consultancy that I learnt in the School is helping me out on a day-to-day basis while making reports and presentations for clients.
Being the only specialized school for real estate and construction education, our young talent is equipped with basic foundation of technical knowledge and management related disciplines. As such, they are well equipped to understand business requirements and add value to the job at hand.

I am handling finance for one of our clients – Brookfield. It has a varied portfolio and we do the ARs for them. To handle finance, one needs to understand the legal agreements with tenants. The knowledge I acquired at RICS SBE helps me on daily basis to interpret and understand legal property agreements and also to make decisions at times of disputes or discrepancies.
The LEGO and LEAPCON game is used to help students gain insights into the lean practices relevant to the construction sector.
ClassRooM aCtIVItIes
Current and cutting edge issues such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), knowledge management, lean practices, offsite construction, sustainability, safety, productivity, risk management and other important aspects of project management are taught in the School through engaging student activities like paper tower game, LEGO, LEAPCON, airplane game.
The paper-tower game is used to show students the importance of coordination, communication and collaboration – similar to different phases of a project life cycle including designing, planning, construction, monitoring and controlling.
CaPstone PRoJeCt
Towards the end of their study, students undertake major piece of guided independent research on agreed topics between the student and their supervisor. It involves a literature review and an appropriate form of critical analysis of sources of primary and/or secondary data with some field work. A thesis written at the end of the project will ensure the students delve more deeply to synthesize knowledge acquired in previous studies.
The purpose is to enable the student to develop deeper knowledge, understanding, capabilities and attitudes in the context of the programme of study.

∫ The PMI stakeholder case study of Jalswarjya Project, Maharashtra - enlisting stakeholder engagement for successful project delivery.
aakash gaRgValuation & Consulting, CBREMBA REUI (2013-15)
I developed good finance and analytical skills through dedicated subject on valuations at RICS SBE and gained industry knowledge by doing regular market research/analysis projects during my MBA. This helped me get an edge over others right from day one at my work at CBRE. I find myself at ease doing valuations for different projects, be it a hotel, corporate, residential or entertainment property. Also being an RICS SBE pass out, expectations of my seniors and management is higher as compared to other fresh co-workers. They are also waiting for me to become a member of RICS (MRICS).
