ABSTRACT
In accordance with the rules of each university, all students must work on a final
project in the form of a thesis which will be published at both the university and
national levels. To describe the types and investigate the causes of writing anxiety
experienced by ELED students in their thesis writing course. These things can cause
anxiety when working on the thesis. This research uses a qualitative method, class
A as research subjects English education 2016 and the instruments are interview
guide and Forum Group Discussion. From the results of research conducted on
students in the English education department of UMM, From the results of research
conducted on students of the English Department of UMM, it was found that
students often experience cognitive anxiety which occurs when students feel
worried and uncomfortable when the thesis is assessed by the lecturer and somatic
anxiety when students' minds become blank when they start writing theses and are
under the deadline.

condition for completing undergraduate education (S1) in the Undergraduate
Program of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training and Education
Department of English, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The process of compiling this thesis is not easy for me, I have to face many
difficult things, both due to technical writing and data collection as well as things
that come from myself, but in the end, with various moral and material supports I
managed to complete my obligations as a students’, therefore I would like to take
this opportunity to thank :
1. Parents and families who always provide support both directly and with
advice
2. Supervisors who never tire of teaching and correcting all my mistakes
and shortcomings in the thesis writing process
3. Research participants who have helped me and are willing to cooperate
in my research
