APHRS Cardiac Device Therapy Curriculum
Sudden Cardiac Death and Basics of ICDModule 2JJune 23-24, 2018Evaluation SummaryAdvanced Technology Center Beijing, China
Executive Summary
• 15 participants from Asia participated in the ICD course• 1.5 days comprehensive training on ICD knowledge in Beijing ATC• This training aims to strengthen physicians’ basic ICD knowledge and practical experience on
programming of arrhythmia therapy and SVT discrimination • Such as the “ICD Case Studies” which provided our participants an opportunity to practice
ICD episode analyzing and trouble-shooting skills through small group discussion and case competition
• Received good feedback from the delegates to the programmer hands-on session and group discussion activity
• Area for improvement:1. Agenda has to be reviewed to avoid content overlapping 2. Pick common scenario for the “ICD case group discussion”, such as inappropriate
shock/ATC therapy 3. Combine the DFT lecture and DFT hands-on workshop4. The content of “Basic ICD Programming” hands-on session can be simplify by focusing
on the general concept of detection, SVT discrimination and programming option• 79% delegates are quite comfortable (or above) with ICD implantation procedure versus 35%
prior to the training• 100% delegates agree they learnt new skills & techniques about the ICD programming from
the group discussion and programmer hands-on session
