Technology Based Training
METHODS OF INSTRUCTIONS
• Traditional Approaches• Classroom Instruction• Lecture and Discussion• Case Study• Role Playing
• Self-Directed Learning• Readings, Workbooks, Correspondence
Courses• Programmed Instruction
• Simulated / Real Work Settings• Promotes practice• Relatively few people trained at one
time• Apprentice training• On-the-job training• Job Rotation/ Cross Training
METHODS OF INSTRUCTIONS
• Employees can gain control over when and where the receive training
• Employees can access knowledge and expert systems • Employees can choose the type of media that they want
to use in a training program• Course enrollment, testing, and training records can be
handled electronically• Employees' accomplishments during training can be
monitored• Traditional training methods, can be delivered to trainees
rather than requiring them to come to a central training location
TECHNOLOGY'S INFLUENCE ON TRAINING AND LEARNING
• Digital Collaboration - The use of technology to enhance and extend employees' abilities to work together regardless of their geographic proximity
• Synchronous Communication - Trainers, experts, and learners interact with each other live and in real time
• Asynchronous Communication - Non-Real-Time interactions
Technology and Collaboration
• Distance Learning• Interactive Multimedia• Web-based Instruction• Intelligent Tutoring
Systems• Virtual Reality Training
TECHNOLOGY'S INFLUENCE ON TRAINING AND LEARNING
• Distance education or distance learning is the education of students who may not always be physically present at a school.
• Courses that are conducted (51 percent or more) are either hybrid, blended or 100% whole instruction.
DISTANCE LEARNING
• Interactive media refers to products and services on digital computer-based systems which respond to the user's actions by presenting content such as text, moving image, animation, video, audio, and video games.
INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA
• Web-based instruction (WBI) is a hypermedia-based instructional program which utilizes the attributes and resources of the World Wide Web to create a meaningful learning environment where learning is fostered and supported, e.g. Lynda.com
WEB-BASED INSTRUCTION
• An intelligent tutoring system (ITS) is a computer system that aims to provide immediate and customized instruction or feedback to learners, usually without intervention from a human teacher, e.g Sygic, Photomath Apps, etc
INTELLIGENT TUTORING SYSTEMS
• Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment. On a computer, virtual reality is primarily experienced through two of the five senses: sight and sound.
