DearLakeOrionFootballParents/GuardiansandSupporters:ItismyhonorandprivilegetoserveasthenewheadfootballcoachofyourLakeOrionDragons.Iamexcitedaboutthechallengeandopportunitytoleadthisproudandtraditionrichprogram.IhavebeenemployedbyLakeOrionCommunitySchoolssince1998inavarietyofrolesthroughoutthedistrict.Duringthepast19years,IhavecoordinatedthespecialteamsandcoachedthedefensivebacksasanassistantcoachforChrisBell.Themainpurposeofthisletteristoassureyouthatyourcurrentand/orfutureDragonisingoodhands.Asastaff,weplantocontinuethetraditionofhavingteamsthatnotonlyplayhard,butalsorepresenttheirschoolandcommunityinapridefulandrespectfulmanneronthefieldandinourcommunity.Wewillstrivetodevelopgreatyoungmenthatnotonlyperformonthefield,butalsowinchampionshipsinthegameoflife.Wehopetobeasinfluentialinyourson’slifeasthegreatrolemodelsIhavehadinmylifelike:CoachWillieMartinez,CoachDickFlynn,CoachFrankNovak,CoachChrisBell,andmostimportantlymyownhighschoolcoach(andfather)CoachJohnT.Blackstock.Ourfoundationasaprogram,whichisourparentgroup(PEPPClub),districtleadership,andcommunity,isrocksolid.Ourhighschoolthroughyouthleaguecoachingandsupportstaffwillcontinuetoprovideastrongsupportandstructuretoourprogram.WhenwehavemenlikeEricJennings,BradFischer,EricGhiaciuc,JayCohoe,JasonLarsen,andTylerMisiakremaininginvolvedatthevarsitylevel,itiseasytosayyoursonwillbetakencareof.ThroughthehelpofmyfriendDr.JaredWood,wehavecreatedaphrasethatourplayerswillhearalot.“MakeThePlay…EveryDayisGameDay!”Thisisimportantbecauseouryoungmenhavehundredsofopportunitiestomakebigplayseverydaywhetheronoroffthefield,inseasonoroutofseason.Wealsobelievegamedayalwayshasaspecialenergytoit.Imaginewhatwecanaccomplishifwebringthatenergyeverydaytoallaspectsofourlives.AtthispointoftheoffseasonIhaveencouragedourplayersto:#1beeligibleforouropeninggameatChippewaValley.Thatmeansacademicallyandintermsofthestudent-athletecode.#2beinvolvedinaplannedstrengthprogramtopreventinjuriesandincreaseathleticperformance.WehaveagreatprogramrunbyCoachBookerandCoachJennings.Student-athletesshouldparticipateinthemorningworkoutsorinCoachBooker’sstrengthclassduringtheschoolday.#3competeeitherthroughoneofthemanyLakeOrionHighSchoolathleticteamswehave,oratoneofthevariousfootballskilldevelopmentclinicsaroundOaklandCountythiswinter.Parents,IhighlyencourageyoutogetinvolvedinourPEPPClub.Ourbiggestandmostimportantfundraiser“Knight”OutforDragonFootballwillbeSaturday,March18atCanterburyVillage.Thankyouinadvanceforyourdedicationandsupporttoourprogramandpurpose.GoDragons,JohnBlackstockLakeOrionDragonsHeadFootballCoach(248)[email protected](Followme@john_cmu29)
