We are happy to sponsor the Repair Cafe on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Each month, the Repair Cafe meets and volunteers are here to show you how to repair your broken, torn, non-functioning items. We have had great success with
keeping things out of landfills and making the repairs instead. Our repair rate hovers around 65%-70%, making us beat the average of other
Repair Cafes around the globe. Approximately 38% of the world’s Repair Cafes are in The Netherlands, 27% in Germany, 14% in Belgium, 8% in France, 4% in
the UK, 3% in the United States, 3% in Austria, 1% in Canada, 1% in Switzerland and 1% in Australia. Stop by and bring an item or have a cup of coffee and check
us out.
The website is: repaircafeoakparkil.org
Join us for repairs, expertise, refreshments and camaraderie!

THE ECONOMY SHOP NEWS
The Economy Shop started taking donations again on August 1. We have been working on getting our rooms in order for the new sale season. We have been getting a lot of donations
sent our way and the rooms are going to be well stocked.
We are always looking for volunteers. We put out a schedule via email towards mid-month with the upcoming dates for Economy Shop opportunities. People who are available let us
know, and we put them on the schedule. If you don’t let us know that you’re available, very seldom do we contact you. There is absolutely no pressure - we want people to enjoy
themselves and not have any stress put on them. And it’s a fun place to work! We have been so fortunate to have an amazing group of volunteers staff our rooms!!!
THANK YOU to those of you considering helping us out there and THANK YOU to those of you who will be returning - we appreciate you so much!!!
Call the Center at 708-848-5251 and ask for Nancy or Marcia to be put on our volunteer list.
The support that the Economy Shop gives us plays a major role in keeping our Center as a viable and important community resource and is greatly appreciated.
SALE DATES: Thursdays: September 8 and October 6 from 9-3 Saturdays: September 17 & 24 and October 15 & 22 from 9-3
CENTER NEWS:

The Oak Park Arms worked on their parking lot and the spaces are no longer marked “Reserved for Residents” by a sign. The first two rows of parking (closest to the building) are

available on the street.
