Call to Worship
Prayer of Adoration
GIVE PRAISE AND THANKS TO GOD_________________
*Hymn of Praise #721 “Come Ye Thankful People Come” Deacons will collect prayer requests
*Prayer of Confession
Lord, you have called us to worship you. We gladly
gather! As we praise you, though, our own inadequacy reminds
us of how we have broken our relationship with you. Because we
have sinned against you, even our worship fails to be what it
could. We often treat it as a show. We simply go through the
motions, failing to recognize that you want to engage us on a very
deep level. Renew us, we pray, according to your steadfast love.
Remind us of your covenant faithfulness and have mercy on us
in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
*Assurance of God’s Forgiveness
*Congregational Response Hymn #81, verse 2
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, ordaining,
maintaining his kingdom divine; so from the beginning the fight
we were winning: thou Lord, was at our side, all glory be thine!
Time with the Children
Anthem
Joys and Concerns
Prayers of the People & the Lord’s Prayer …Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Offering our Gifts to God

Praise him above, ye heavenly host:
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

It is Jesus Christ who holds history in his hand and, therefore, whatever fears we may have in our hearts about life or death must be radically refocused. The one to fear is the Lamb, as John the Baptist rightly announced by saying “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” Then, Paul in Romans 8 makes the same discovery: “Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, (Paul answers) who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us.” That is to say, only Jesus Christ, the living Word, has the right to say the last word. Only Christ is worthy of our worship.

A Brief Statement of Faith
In life and in death we belong to God.
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the love of God, and the
communion of the Holy Spirit, we
trust in the one triune God, the
Holy One of Israel, whom alone
we worship and serve.
We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human,
fully God.
We trust in God, whom Jesus called
Abba, Father.
We trust in God the Holy Spirit,
everywhere the giver and renewer
of life.
With believers in every time and place,
we rejoice that nothing in life or in
death can separate us from the love
of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
