This week’s Hornet Spotlight also shines bright-ly on PHS Senior Bethany Doss. During the
course of her ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade years Bethany proudly cheered on the Hornet basketball teams as a dedicated member of the
Varsity basketball cheerleading squad. In Bethany’s spare time, she enjoys shopping and spend-ing time with her friends.
Bethany declares Mrs. Lewis as the Hornet teacher who has inspired her most
throughout her high school career. Bethany says she adores Mrs. Lewis be-
cause she is a genuine person, and has always motivated Bethany to do her very best in any-thing she chooses to do. After high school, Beth-
any plans on attending Darton State College to major in and pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. Good luck, Bethany!
This week’s Hornet Spotlight shines brightly on PHS Senior Quenterrius Jasper. Quenterrius can usually be
found under the Friday night lights with his fellow Hornet football teammates. He has
been a part of leading the Hornet football team to their victories all throughout his high school career, and has
started on the varsity team since his freshman year. In Quenterrius’s spare time, he enjoys watching sports and hanging out with
friends. Qeunterrius proclaims Coach Carroll as the teacher who has inspired him the most throughout high school. He says Coach Carroll motivates him to strive
to become a better man and chase his dreams to the best of his abilities. After graduating, Quenterrius would like to attend a two year college in California,
and then his ultimate dream would be to transfer to the University of Florida and play football for the Gators. Good luck, Quenterrius!

Last Saturday PHS placed 5th in the One Act Play competition in Cook County. Johnathan Smith and Haley Wood were both named to the All-
Star Cast for their remarkable performance. This year’s drama class is going to perform for the school. Mrs.Braswell’s drama class will be performing next Friday for the English-Language Arts classes 1st, 2nd ,
and 4th block in the high school gymnasium.
The Mitchell County Youth Advisory Council has been in ac-tion! MCYAC had their annual Red Ribbon Rally in Pelham on
Tuesday in the old high school gym. This rally was to educate younger children and their parents about the importance of staying drug free. The rally
consisted of motivational speakers, songs, and more fun activities. The Boys and Girls Club gave an outstanding song and dance routine. The PCMS band and Mr. White also
did an amazing job by giving the crowd a great pep up with the musical selections! Many of the kids and parents enjoyed their short time at the rally learning the signifi-
cance of being drug free.
Mr. Hilll’s economics classes are learning life skills while participatimg in the marriage project. As a couple, the students have to budget
their money based on the jobs they randomly draw. This project is designed to engage students in real life situations so they will be wise in their budgeting and spending as
adults. In addition, it teaches them to work closely with their partner because life is also about compromise. Leave it to Mr. Hill to make learning fun, yet challenging!
Hornet Senior Whitney Harrell is at it again! This past weekend she traveled to Valdosta, Georgia to
steal the crown from the Little Miss Valdosta Pag-eant. She competed in an interview competition as well as a beauty competition. As the results finally
arrived, Whitney was awarded an interview award with a cash prize, best
smile award, and best dress award. She also
received a crown and sash for scoring the highest overall in the
Miss division. We are so very proud and cannot wait to see
what else this pageant girl will accomplish. Congratu-lations, Whitney!

This weeks Club Spotlight shines brightly on FBLA. FBLA is Future Business Leaders of America; this club influences teens in high school
who want to go into a business career. FBLA provides many fun and informative activities and programs for members to be involved in which include March of Dimes, FBLA Conference, and FBLA Fall Rally
that gives members the opportunity to meet other FBLA members all over Georgia. FBLA recently traveled to Southwest Georgia Tech-nical College for Shadowing Health Careers. There were many cate-gories that the members could shadow including nursing, clinical
laboratory technology, veterinary technology, medical assisting, radi-ologic technology, and respiratory care technology. This event is for
high school students who want to go to college, and shadow the ca-reer field they want to go into. This trip helped many students choose
their career field, and it also answered many questions for these fu-ture business leaders. The students enjoyed this trip which is helping them in pursing their future.

“You can't force love, I realized. It's there or it isn't. If it's not
there, you've got to be able to admit it. If it is there, you've got to do whatever it takes to protect
the ones you love.” - Richelle Mead, Frostbite
Song: Marry Me Artist: Jason Derulo
Album: Tattoos Some believe that in this song Jason Derulo is really asking his
girlfriend Jordin Sparks to marry him. In the music video he propos-es to her, but the question linger-ing in everyone’s mind is, was it a
real proposal? Jordin tweeted that the two had "so much fun" making the video, but didn't ad-
dress whether the proposal was real. Derulo tweeted: "We shot part of the #MarryMeVideo at
@MichaelCFina in NYC. When the time’s right, my ring for Jordin MAY look like this :)" In August,
Jason Derulo told Ryan Seacrest, "It'll happen when the time is right."
Coach Sirmon’s civics classes had a mock trial last Friday which
demonstrated what can happen when someone is texting and driving. Coach Sirmon served as the judge and announced the case. Although
the driver only texted a few
letters, since the road condi-tions were wet, the car spun out of control, and one of the passengers was killed when
the car wrapped around a tree. Sadly, the driver had already suffered the loss of
his father from a car accident previously. Although his mother testified in her son’s defense, he was still found
guilty. No text is worth the risk of a life. The civics c l a s s e s
l e a r n e d about the legal system, but more than that, they were reminded how quickly an acci-
dent can occur from a simple text. Whether a teenager or an adult, texting
while driving is not worth the risk.
This game will be coming out on No-vember 15; although it is not as main-
stream as Battlefield or Call of Duty, its pre-orders are steadily increasing so this game earns its spot for Game of
