e charcoal work eliminates line work as the lightand shadows are expressed to create the piece.
e NuPastel uses complementary colors blendedto express the light and shadow of the piece.

PERSPECTIVE HAND DRAWING5
Two-point perspective has one set of lines parallel to the picture plane and two sets oblique to it. Parallel lines oblique to the picture plane converge to a vanishing point.
One-point imagined perspective depicts ctional elements coming straight on.
PRECEDENT HOUSE STUDY
A precedent study of Le Corbusier’s 1920’s Villa Stein de-Monzie located in Garches, France. e design is a mixture of art, biology, and human scale.
From this study the value of reasearch, and multi-perspectival viewpoint including elevation, section, and plan, all to fully understand a project.

BOAT HOUSE9
Vista 1: a distant view through or along an avenue or opening : prospect 2: an extensive mental view (over a stretch of time or a series of events)
The project incorporates a comfortable liveing space with a full kitchen and bathroomwith a boat storage room along the banks of theMississippi River. The landscape beginsto converge with the structure as it overlaps, runs under, and tucks inbetween, creating a multitude of optional paths for one to experience as they traverse the site.

MACHINE PROJECT11
The purpose of this project was to measure and record the natural phenomenon oflight and sound to mediate a relationship between the human body and the built environment.Geometry became in important part of this project as it was a driving factor in structure, aesthetics, and experience of the machine when operated. During the experience one can feel and hear the wood rubbing and resounding as they crank the gears. The light and shadow contrast eachother as the gearsmove al oround your head in a 365 degree view. All combined the design creates a unique sensory experience.

NYC INTER FAITH HOUSING
e site located on the corner of Broome and Crosby Street is in an upcoming neighborhood in theSoho District of New York City. Surrounded by such a diverse collection of culture, race, and religion,
this project uses progressive design to create an experientially rich design that celerates the union, meshing, and understanding of a varied group of people from across the globe.

“A form of knowledge rather than a knowledge of form.”
-Bernard Tschumi
This project examines the Parc De La Villette by Bernard Tschumi in Paris Frace comparing its design concept with two other prominent designied landscapes; Park Güell in Barcelona,
Spain and Central Park in New York City. Tschumi’s rectalinear grid with unprogramed spaces at the injtersections opposes the landscape notion of Olmstead, widespread during the 19th century, that, “In the park, the city is not supposed to exist.” Instead, it proposes a social and
cultural park with activities on the site.
The created images express what was understood from Tschumi’s design as the walkwayswere programed with a purpose but the intersections experience a built enviornment with
no specic program created.

PANAMA CITY EXPANDED URBANIZATION 17
The land between Panama City and Colon create an axis on which a large population ofthe country lives. Along this same axis there are several forms of infrastucture: roads, bridges, rail lines, pipe lines, waterways, and of corse the critical Panama Canal. With so many connections, the urbanization of the two cities is now expanding past city limits and is all tied together by these infrastructural elements. This project follows the argument of Harvard Professor and Architectural Theorist, Neil Brenner that urbanism has surpassed the generic city form with setboundariesis.
Our design is creating a designed space that creates a node point in which all thses dierent forms of infrastructure can meet and intertwine to utilize

The Design Build course is an interdisciplinary studio consisting of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Industrial Design, and Interior Design students from dierent years of study.
The 2015 project was to design an entrance to the Lied Outdoor Fields for the ISU Recreation Services to replace the existing chain link fence. With one semester and a $30,000 budget
the studio collaboratively developed and presented the design that met the specic program set by the client. With the approval and completion of a full set of construction documents
with specications, the project was then fully constructed by the studio.

Fall of 2015 BCJ Architects won the bid to design the adaptive re-use of the existing Amgen campus into the new urban campus for Expedia. Expedia is making the move from Belmont to Seattle and
expanding to a much larger facility.
The semester project was to shadow along BCJ and create a modern Urban Campus just outside of downtown Seattle for this rapidly growing tech company with exible space that runs eciently.
