The UHS Day
Everyone starts at 8:00 a.m. Closed lunch hour and study support for all
9th and 10th graders Choice 8 period day encouraged for all
students Study halls only for seniors Students run on individual schedules, not
teams

Study Support and Teams
Study Support: All 9th and 10th graders have 25 minutes of this classroom time before or after their lunch. Small groups of 12 - 18 students. Academic help is available.
Teams: All 9th and 10th graders are on a team. These numbered teams (no names) are actually teams of teachers with "in common" students. Teams serve as both support and "connection" for students.

ALS: Academic Learning Support
Required for many 9th - 11th graders but an option for all.
Credited/graded class. 25 minutes of support for the student's math class 25 minutes of support for English or other subjects Students receiving D or F in Math or English at the
marking periods may be moved out of an elective and into ALS during the semester.

Co-Taught Courses: Taught in the regular ed classroom with a special education teacher who assists with any needed academic or behavioral accommodations.
Instructional Courses: Taught by special education teachers, these courses are aligned to meet core requirements and some electives.

Educational Support Class: This is a combination of teaching students better study skills and assisting them with daily work from classes.
The Learning Center: Available each period as a “drop in” room for students who receive special education services and need assistance with tests and/or coursework during the the time they are scheduled in general education class.

Registration is done in small group settings. Students have a copy of their choices for parent review. Current UHS students will register throughout February. Student choices can be adjusted even after registration. A printout of the student's course selections is mailed
home in late spring. Phone or email your child's UHS counselor with any

Counseling Office for a registration appointment.
