New Development: Karin House at Walter Reed
• So Others Might Eat – District selected non-profit selected to create affordable housing at The Parks
• Established: 1970
• Mission: SOME is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and healthcare. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly, and individuals with mental illness. Each day, SOME is restoring hope and dignity one person at a time.
• Affordable Housing: In 2005 we set a goal of creating 1,000 units of affordable housing because we know that housing is the solution to homelessness. Today, we are proud to be more than three-quarters of the way to that goal, having created 781 apartments and single rooms for families and single adults
