Internship Reflection
My Spring Break spent at Urology of Virginia was very exciting and made an impact on
my future job decision. At first, I was very nervous walking into an actual large company
because I wanted to make a good first impression. I had prior experience interning in a medical
office during Freshman year, but I knew that because this was a more larger corporation and I
would have to work with more things specifically. I enjoyed working everyday because
everyone was nice and friendly. I wouldn't mind being assigned anywhere. I just wanted to be
used as any kind of help. I worked a lot with computers because most of the medical files of
patients and ordering of medications are all computerized now. I could see how much technology
advancements are being implemented in the medical work field. Even though there were plenty
of paper and files to sort out, technology is doing a lot to help organize and minimize the work of
the office. My favorite part of the internship was my time in the lab. I learned the most
information by doing the hands on work. I worked in the cancer pod where I only saw patients
that were diagnosed with cancer. My job was checking the urine through dip tests, cytology, and
spins of blood. I was excited to work every day and I felt like a real nurse because I wore scrubs
and they trusted me whenever I worked in the lab. I became used to the work after a few patients
and I became known as the "pee queen." My job wasn't only fun, it was a lot of hard work too. I
had to have a lot of patience when doing a lot of paper work, finding files for patients, and
sorting and organizing all the patients files. Also, like all the nurses I had to work late to make
sure each patient was recorded correctly in the computer, that all the tests were ordered for the
next week, and that each patient left the facility with a feeling of security and care. I learned that
being a nurse is very difficult and takes a lot of patience. A person can't be a nurse unless that
person has passion and love for this job. I'm glad that I was able to take place in this experience.
I've made my decision to pursue this career. I'll always take what I learned from this experience
and apply it to my future career. I wouldn't mind doing this internship again in the future.

Event Reflection
This was my very first time making an event. It was very exciting and a new experience.
I was very nervous because I didn't know what I should do in an event. Truthfully I was not
expecting to do an event because I had planned on completing another forty hour internship, but
unfortunately I ran out of time. My parents had told me that holding an event would be easier if I
just presented my event in my church. In preparation of this event, I made flyers and I spread the
news to my classmates, friends, and the members of my church. My event was held at my
church, International Bible Baptist Church in the Virginia Beach Philippine Cultural Center, with
an attendance of more than twenty people. During my event I was very nervous and excited at
the same time. I presented my senior project about how to raise a child in a heterogeneous
culture. I showed my audience on what I had been doing in my academy senior class. They
enjoyed seeing my website I created. I explained the differences of raising a child in China
compared with raising a child in America. At the end of my event, my audience was supportive
and interested about how much I learned in my topic. This left me with a really good feeling
inside.
