Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish • 2 HOLY HILL PILGRIMAGE
What: Seminarian Jack will be leading a day parish pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Holy Hill. Holy Hill, located just North-West of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is one of America’s oldest and most beau-tiful Basilicas and Shrines. It will be a re-laxing day focused on Our Lord and in renewing ourselves in body and soul. We will depart from OLGC in the morning, have Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Shrine, a tour, time for personal prayer, lunch and, of course, free time to explore at leisure. About the Shrine: More than 500,000 people from all over the world visit Holy Hill each year. Some come to admire the beautiful architecture of the neo-Romanesque church built in 1926. Others make a pilgrimage to Holy Hill to worship, to meditate or to pray for healing. Regardless of what brings people to Holy Hill, they are bound to be touched by its peaceful environment and to be renewed in body, mind and spirit. With over 400 acres of land and even a life-size Stations of the Cross, the Shrine is a place steeped in the peace of Our Lord’s presence. (holyhill.com) When: We will depart 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21 and re-turn in the evening. Who: Anyone over 18 years old. If under 18, we ask that a parent or legal guardian accompany them along the pilgrimage. How can I go? Is there a cost? To sign-up to go, please e-mail Jack Reichardt ([email protected]) with your name, number of persons and contact information. We will be departing OLGC via carpooling (please notify Jack if you are able to drive). There will thus be no official cost, but rather just helping the drivers out with fuel. All other expenses will be at one’s own discretion (ie. lunch at Shrine café and gift shop). [~$15 - 40]
[~ $ 15 - 40]

Stewardship Reflection…
“…as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their want, so that their abundance may supply your want, that there may be equality.” ~2 CORINTHIANS 8:14~
We are responsible not only for our own lives, but for the lives of those around us. It is important that we not only grow, nurture and share our gifts; but that we also teach our children and encourage others to do the same. This is the communal aspect of our Catholic faith. We are the “Body of Christ”. We are called to be dependent on each other and not live in isolation.

By following Jesus’ new Commandment of unselfish love, our lives can be richly fulfilling, and marked by joy and peace. In contrast, treating others as either means or obstacles to one’s self-serving goals, while never learning to love generously, is an impoverished way to live.” ~Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo~
Available to Purchase Into His Likeness:
Be Transformed as a Disciple of Christ In the ancient disciple-rabbi relationship, the disciple would would follow the rabbi so closely that he would be covered in the dust kicked up from his rabbi's feet. Thousands of years later, though we walk on roads of pavement and not dust, we are still called to be disciples-to follow our Rabbi, Jesus Christ, so closely that we are covered with his life, changed, and made new. In this book, Edward Sri provides an approachable, but in-depth exploration of how to live as a disciple and experi-ence the transformation that Jesus wants to work in our lives. This book simply helps us follow those initial prompt-ings of the Holy spirit, so that we may more intentionally encounter Jesus anew each day and be more disposed to his grace, changing us ever more into his likeness.

In today’s Gospel we see how in faith Jarius asked Jesus to heal his daughter and how Jesus then answered his prayer. In prayer we also come to know that we are loved by God, and in that trust, we ask for healing for our-selves, our loved ones and all those who are suffering.
Through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brings the love and healing of Jesus to our suffering neighbors.
Would you like to help people in our community who are in need? Please leave us a message at 630-236-1285.
