'Life Goes On'

South Korean music sensation BTShas once again topped theBillboard Hot 100 chart with 'LifeGoes On', the lead single of their

recently-released album ‘BE’ (DeluxeEdition) topping the chart. The song, asoothing melody reflecting the state of lifeduring the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,also topped the Billboard 200 chart. Iwake up a little late onweekends, relax in themorning and chart out a

plan for the two days. I thenrequest my father and waitfor his response before exe-cuting my plans.

If I am going outdoors, Itry to avoid crowded places. Iam always surprised to seesuch heavy traffic on theroads because this is the firstyear I am staying in Indiasince I was born.

BE AWARE OF YOUR RIGHTS AND DUTIES

Our Constitution wasadopted on November26, 1949. To mark its sig-

nificance, Constitution Day wasobserved in the school. Stu-dents presented a 40-minute vir-tual programme during the as-sembly, showcasing all therights that our Constitutiongives us, as well as the dutiesthat we are endowed with. Stu-dents presented songs, a skitand a dance. A few studentsalso enacted the role of mem-bers of the Constituent As-sembly.

Various topics such as fun-damental rights were displayedthrough the cultural pro-grammes. In view of the Covidpandemic, the programme wasrecorded individually by all stu-dents in the safety of theirhomes and then put together.

Students from all domainsshowcased the significance ofthe Constitution.

As Prime Minister Naren-dra Modi read out the Pream-ble in the morning, all studentsand teachers also read it out asper the instructions of theCBSE. The participation of stu-dents was exemplary.

We ought to remember thatwe belong to a great sovereignnation, whose history is full ofthe sacred culture that has per-meated all generations of peo-ple in India.

Constitution Day, also knownas National Law Day, is cel-ebrated in India on Novem-

ber 26 every year to commemoratethe adoption of the Constitution ofIndia. On November 26, 1949, theConstituent Assembly of Indiaadopted the Constitution of India,and it came into effect on January26, 1950.

In Pallavi Aware Internation-al School, a special programme wasorganised to mark this occasion,this time with a difference. Parentstook the centrestage as they con-ducted an online quiz on the Con-stitution. Students read out the Pre-amble, promised to safeguard thedignity of the Constitution, and bydoing so, received a certificate from MyGov.inwhich they proudly displayed. They showcasedthe importance of this day through PowerPoint

presentation, song, videos and role play. Guestspeaker of the day Gayethri spoke about the rel-evance of the Constitution in our everyday life.

To commemorate the adop-tion of the Constitution ofIndia, National Constitu-

tion Day was celebrated at PallaviModel School, Boduppal. The aimbehind the celebration was tomake students aware of the im-portance of the Constitution andto spread thoughts and ideas ofDr B R Ambedkar, the father ofthe Indian Constitution, and allthe members of the constituentassembly.

Various activities like sloganwriting, elocution, Mock Parlia-ment, JAM - just a minute talk onimportance of rights and dutiesof the Indian constitution wereconducted at various levels. Stu-dents also enjoyed participatingin a seminar on the importanceof the Constitution.

The preamble was read out by

the whole school at 11 am. The ac-tivities were aimed at making thestudents more responsible and un-derstand their responsibility to-wards themselves and the socie-ty at large.

Though students learn aboutthe Constitution as a part of theiracademics, it was an innovativeway to recall and gain knowledgeby participating in these activi-ties. Addressing the students, prin-cipal Tanuja advised them to ex-plore more about our country andpay attention to what is going onaround so that they can becomepart of the development of thecountry.

Ganges Valley School cele-brated the spirit of the In-dian Constitution by ob-

serving the special day on No-vember 26. The teachers admin-istered the pledge of the Pream-ble at 11 am during the onlineclasses, taking a short break,wherein students pledged to ad-here to the principles laid out inthe Preamble.

The students were once againreminded of our Constitution thatadvocates solidarity, equality andbrotherhood. The relevance of ob-serving it in schools is significantas students get a chance to un-derstand the history of the Indi-an Constitution and its uniquecharacteristics.

In the fast flow of time, some-times, the essence of the Consti-tution and its effect on fosteringa peaceful India need to be reit-erated to the young Indians.

Observing days and eventsthat have national relevance andsignificance at school facilitatesthis. Ganges Valley observes na-tional festivals and organizes ac-tivities and events that help stu-dents to trace back to India's cul-ture, heritage, and democratic fea-tures.

Be it our annual day or sportsday, the theme we choose glidesover different aspects of the his-tory of India and its heritage. Con-stitution Day was an opportunityfor everyone to reaffirm their com-mitment to the Indian Constitu-tion. Students recited the Pream-ble online, each and every wordof it reverberated its essence andsanctity.

A special morning as-sembly was conducted byPallavi InternationalSchool, Keesara, to markthe significance of theConstitution Day and to re-iterate the great work doneby the revered members ofthe Constituent Assembly.The assembly commencedwith the introduction ofthe importance of Consti-tution Day. On November26, 1949, the constituentassembly of India adopt-ed the Constitution of In-dia. However, the Consti-tution of India came intoforce on January 26, 1950,which is celebrated as Re-public Day. Dr BR Ambed-kar was remembered forhis role in framing theConstitution.

Children also depictedthe four pillars of the Con-stitution in the form of arole play. A video on thesubject was also shown. The Constitution is not a merelawyer's document, it is a ve-hicle of life, and its spirit is

always the spirit of age. India cele-brates its Constitution Day on No-vember 26 every year to commemo-rate the adoption of the Constitu-tion of India.

We, the history teachers of John-son Grammar School, Habsiguda,organised a forum buzz session onConstitution Day for the students ofclass VIII. Their expression ofthought, perspective, emphasisabout the constitutional values wereworth appreciating.

They reflected a democratic wayof thinking and exhibited theirprocessed information rather than

simply receiving it. They could cor-relate the importance of the Constitution with the oath of disci-pline and its approach till the re-vised education policy 2020. The ses-sion concluded with an oath takenby each and every student that theywould abide by the fundamentalrights and duties and promised tobe well disciplined and be a good fu-ture citizen.

Former Australia captain Ian Chappell has suggested that the ICC ban switch-hitting, saying the shot is“blatantly unfair” to the bowler and fielding team. In the ongoing ODI series between India and Australia, Glenn

Maxwell and David Warner have caught Indian bowlers off guard a number of times by playing the switch-hit

(Switch-hitting) is very skillful,

some of it’s amazingly skillful

- but it’s not fair. How can

one side of the game, ie. the

bowlers, they have to tell the

umpire how they’re going to

bowl. And yet the batsman, he lines

up as a right-hander - I’m the fielding cap-

tain, I place the field for the right-hander -

and before the ball’s been delivered, the

batsman becomes a left-hander.

One of the main reasons why he’s becoming

a left-hander is so he can take advantage of

those field placings. I’d love the administra-

tors who made those laws, I’d love them to

explain to me how that’s fair. I just can’t

believe the players don’t arc-up about it. If

I’m captain, I’m going to take the ball

myself and I’m going to tell the umpire I’m

bowling right-arm over (the wicket), and

then I’m going to run in and bowl around.

A switch hit involves effectively changing from a right-

hander to a left-hander or vice versa just before the

ball is delivered by the bowler for the purpose of exe-

cuting the shot. Experts believe that the switch hit is

skewing the balance between bat and ball. After all,

bowlers can’t indulge in such stunts: they have to

inform umpires in advance which end they will bowl

from, and which hand they will use. The switch-hit has

been declared a legitimate shot by International

Cricket Council (ICC).

I think they will have to look at it far

more closely than has been done.

These are the natural changes and

shot. Now many batsmen play it. In time more innova-

It’s seriously getting difficult. The

bowlers constantly have to think on

their feet and try and read what the

batsmen are trying to do and if a

batsman tries to adjust early to play

a certain shot, you try and bowl cer-

tain deliveries to combat that. But it has

become difficult with switch hit and everything that

goes on with it. As a bowler you just have to take it

on the chin and try to bowl the next delivery.
