August 2, 2012 A Publication of First Baptist Church, Bartlesville, OK
So, after 17 years, at long last I arrive at my final Informer article. I knew, of course, this day would come.
But, what does one write, after 17 years? With what do I leave you?
Two words come to mind. THANK YOU!
I thank you for the privilege of being your pastor. I thank you for the honor of preaching, teaching, and
ministering to you. Thank you for the delight of performing your weddings, for the joy of welcoming your
newborns into this world, and for the opportunity to conduct funerals and memorial services for your loved
ones.
I thank you for your many words of encouragement, your never-ending expressions of support, and for your
constant prayers of supplication and intercession. Thank you for loving me and my family and for finding
tangible ways of demonstrating that love.
In short, I thank you for the privilege of serving you and the blessing of serving alongside of you. Patsy and I
want you to know that you will always have a special place in our hearts and that our love for you will extend
into eternity. So, just know that while we look forward to additional opportunities in the future to see you and
to enjoy your fellowship on this earth, we also look forward to that day when our fellowship will be renewed
in heaven as we come together in the presence of our Lord who makes all good things possible. Until then,
walk with Him! Serve Him! And, give all glory to Him! He deserves more than we can ever give!!!

“Pulpit News”
This Sunday, August 5 will conclude Dr. Joe Dan Fowler’s long
tenure as Senior Pastor at FBC Bartlesville. A reception in honor
of his and Patsy’s dedicated and loving service over the past 17
years is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. this Sunday evening.
A “Pulpit Supply Committee” has been formed, according to our
Constitution and By-Laws, and is actively engaged in their work
to ensure quality pulpit supply is engaged immediately after Bro.
Joe’s retirement. Committee members include Don Brady, Jack
Casto and Scott Hagar. Staff liaisons to the committee include
Terry Long and Lance Brewer.
Pulpit supply needs have been addressed for each Sunday morning
through September 2. A schedule for pulpit supply is provided
below:
August 12 – Dr. Anthony Jordan
August 19 – Dr. Bill Cook
August 26 – Dr. Paul Koonce
September 2 – Rev. Scott Phillips, BGCO
The Pulpit Supply Committee plans for regular updates to the
church family as we walk through this process together. The
Committee is open to input from church members throughout the
process.
It is important to distinguish between the temporary nature of the
work of this Pulpit Supply Committee and the ongoing work of an
official Pastor Search Committee to be elected by the church at a
later date. Please pray for the Pulpit Supply Committee as they
perform their work and plan to share updates with the church on a
regular basis.
