Live Life eXponentially! Hi folks! It was great to see so many of you at the Rocky Mountain Summit in Provo, Utah! Let me catch you up on some breaking news and tips for best use of our products. This month I would like to address an issue that has been coming up regularly and needs to be clarified: overmethylation. The Truth About Overmethylation First of all, the term “overmethylation” is misleading and really does not describe what may or may not be happening here. Some rare individuals have naturally high levels of neurotransmitters (adrenalin, serotonin, dopamine, and acetylcholine), and while most of the time this is a good thing, too much of those vital brain chemicals can result in feeling hyper and anxious. What happens is that the neurotransmitters collect in the brain and nerve synapses as the system that clears those areas—breaking down these important chemicals—is hampered. No one knows the percentage of people who have this tendency, but it is clear that there is variability in severity and reactions. What is misleading, unfortunately, is that it is assumed that this is caused by an overactive methylation system, but actually methylation is just one step in making these neurotransmitters. In fact, these people do not methylate differently, except for those who have the MTHFR gene deficiency, and they cannot methylate normally and suffer from a lack of the methylated folate and B12 that are featured in Q Max. If you are “overmethylated” (I wish I could change that term!) you may feel anxious and hyper, but those symptoms can be caused by many other factors. The treatment for this is actually B vitamins, especially the bioactive methylated forms that we use in Q Max. This helps clear the nerve connections and break down excess neurotransmitters. In addition Q Omegas, with its citicholine and DMAE ingredients, normalizes neurotransmitter levels. Dr. K’s Q Sciences MONTHLY NEWSLETTER — Edition 29, March 2017

Hi folks! It was great to see so many of you at the Rocky Mountain Summit in Provo, Utah! Let me catch you up on some breaking news and tips for best use of our products. This month I would like to address an issue that has been comingupregularlyandneedstobeclarified:overmethylation.

In fact, these people donotmethylatedifferently, exceptforthosewhohavetheMTHFRgenedeficiency, andtheycannotmethylatenormallyandsufferfroma lack of the methylated folate and B12 that are featured in Q Max.

Dialing in the Correct DosageThe reason I am concerned with this issue is that I hear from people who have been confused and scared by “overmethylation,” when in actuality they are at low risk for this. Because Q Max and methyl folate is potent, the dosage needs to be adjusted accordingly. Bear in mind that methyl folate and methyl B12 are naturally present in your diet—they are not foreign substances—and are crucial for optimal brain and body function. They are very well absorbed and go to work immediately to lower the levels of harmful homocysteine. As such, they burn “hot” so theeffectscanbefeltquickly—soIhaveagainrecommendedthatwhenchanging from regular EMPowerplus™ Q96 to Q Max that the dosage be cut in half until you can build up to your target dose. If you are getting toomuchofagoodthing, youmayfeelhyper, sojustbackoffonthedosage. For those just starting Q Max, start with one twice daily and go up gradually once a week until you reach that perfect dose for your unique brain and body chemistry.

Overmethylators, for lack of a better term, tend to have high dopamine levels and low histamine levels. This means they tend towards anxiety and do not have seasonal allergies (hay fever) but may have food or chemical sensitivities. They also have high levels of schizophrenia and sleep disorders.

Supplementing with Q MaxThe treatment: B12 and folate! And methylated to boot, just like Q Max! Niacin or niacinamide, which is in Q Max (niacinamideasitdoesnotcauseflushing)isalsoused. The bottom line is this: Q Max will NOT increase the risk forovermethylationsymptomsinthoseaffected, andwill most certainly reduce them. However, the folate in Q Max is so bioavailable that taking too much at one time might increase anxiety.

• Take Q Max at a lower dose to start, not more than half of your regular Q96 dose or 1–2 twice daily if you are just starting.

• Spread the doses out during the day, no more than one cap at a time with an hour in between.

• Add Q Omegas, Q Biotics and Q Prime to help smooth out your neurotransmitters.

• Q Prime and the minerals in Q Max will really help.

• 20% of people with depression may be “low folate overmethylators” and thereby need true folate for relief.

• Overmethylators respond poorly to prozac and all the other SSRI antidepressants. They actually get worse when given these drugs. They also don’t do well on chemical hormone therapy.

By all means, don’t trust the massive misinformation online about this and other issues. Take if from me, Q Max will help you in many ways no matter what your geneprofileorhistory.Golowandgoslow, payingattention to the way you feel!

Maybe you remember 10 years ago when vitamin E was all the rage—people were taking large doses and doctors were prescribing it for heart disease, dementia, and other conditions. Then a questionable study was released by a doctor who said that his study group who took 400 IUs plus of vitamin E a day had higher rates of death from “all causes.” This was a bad study as the group already had serious medical conditions and the doses were high. However, the die was cast, and suddenly everyone was afraid of vitamin E.

A researcher at Oregon State University debunked the study and said that vitamin E is actually very good for you and most of us do not get enough. Q Max has an appropriately-small dosage that works with the other micronutrients, just as it should be.

So remember these unfortunate facts about the medical industrial complex:

• Manydoctorsarebaffledbymicronutrient therapy, as they were not trained in medical school and have not kept up with the science.

• Some are working for pharmaceutical companies, need I say more!

• Others are simply too overworked to take the time to examine the supplement and to give good advice. It is often easier to just say no.

So bear these points in mind: Q Max works well with any and all pharmaceutical medications and helps reducetherisksforsideeffectsandtoxicities.

Blessings to all of you and I hope to see you soon. If you have any questions, let me know as I am here for you.

Best,

Dr. K
