A lot of the time consumer participation has been conceptualised in a way that’s quite tokenistic… there’s a sense that any consumer will do, let’s just pop someone on and they can represent consumers with no sense of them being embedded in any historical consumer movement or any of the brilliant thinking that’s going on…
