Report In the project “Natural calamities” we have conducted four major activities i.e. PPT Presentation, Collage making, Model making and Group discussions. Collage making is one the activity in which students has collected various pictures of natural calamities with the help of internet. During this students got an opportunity to handle the computer and internet. Printed photos have been composed and displayed on the chart paper by the students. Students took active participation in the collage making activity. From this Collage making activity we covered subjects like art and craft, drawing, computer, internet and math. They learnt about various countries and their disasters during the preparation of this activity. They developed sensitivity towards the victims of the calamities. They also enjoyed and exchanged their ideas regarding the activity. Model making is one of the major activities under „Natural calamities‟ project. In this activity students have made their models on Volcano and earthquake. They collected the necessary waste material for the model making. They inspired the creative attitude amongst themselves. They are found cooperative during this activity. They used their skills like, drawing, art and craft, geography and science. They learnt the structure of the volcanoes. They were happy with their models and shared with their experiences.
PPT presentation is another activity of the Natural calamities project. In this teacher prepared the presentation on natural calamities of Japan, Italy, Indonesia, Nepal and India. Students became aware about the various natural calamities, causes and safety measures through the PPT. They could study comparatively the intensity of the disasters. They developed sympathetic feelings for the victims. Group discussion is the one of the interesting tool to share the ideas. In this activity students took active part and discussed about natural calamities, cause, and impact on the human life and preventive steps. All students put up their views which are very authentic. They developed healthy competition in themselves. During the discussion they were found confident. They showed good sense of communication skills. They have come up with good leadership qualities. They learnt to respect others views also. The challenges we faced was that we could not show the natural disasters like earthquake, flood, volcano etc. in reality. Instead, we preferred to show the videos of the different Natural Calamities occurring in different countries which is mentioned in our project.
