Did you know that many drain cleaners can contain harsh chemicals? Why expose your family to that kind of irritant when it may not be necessary? Some chemical cleaners might even harm your pipes, while also posing a downstream threat to the environment. Here’s a “green” alternative to chemical drain cleaners: take half a cup of baking soda and put it down the drain and then pour a half a cup of vinegar and wait 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes has passed, pour hot water down the drain and this should help remove the clog. Enzymatic drain cleaners are also safe for the environment because they do not contain the chemicals that can get into the soil and water. If you want to stop clogs before they happen, use DrainRight ® Drain Maintainer, exclusively offered by the ARS ® /Rescue Rooter ® Network. It is made from a special formula that liquefies and disperses grease, soap scum, food residue and other waste build-up. Besides keeping your pipes flowing freely, it cleans and deodorizes drain lines, vent lines and grease traps. For more information, call ARS/Rescue Rooter at 1-800-277-9400 or visit ARS.com. If you have broken pipes or other serious issues in your sewer lines, normal chemical drain cleaners do not help! The best solution is to call a licensed plumber to diagnose the issues. TLCDRAIN The ultimate guide on how to give your drain some much needed TLC!

• Did you know that many drain cleaners can contain harsh chemicals? Why expose your family to that kind of irritant when it may not be necessary? Some chemical cleaners might even harm your pipes, while also posing a downstream threat to the environment.

• Here’s a “green” alternative to chemical drain cleaners: take half a cup of baking soda and put it down the drain and then pour a half a cup of vinegar and wait 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes has passed, pour hot water down the drain and this should help remove the clog.

• Enzymatic drain cleaners are also safe for the environment because they do not contain the chemicals that can get into the soil and water.

• If you want to stop clogs before they happen, use DrainRight® Drain Maintainer, exclusively offered by the ARS®/Rescue Rooter® Network.

• If you have broken pipes or other serious issues in your sewer lines, normal chemical drain cleaners do not help! The best solution is to call a licensed plumber to diagnose the issues.
