File > Open > Clown.jpg

First thing you always want to do is make a copy of the original to work with to keep the original intact to use again.

Now you're ready to get started. The first thing that needs to be done is converting the clown.jpg which is a photograph to a drawing.

With the second Layer selected go to Filter > Stylize > Find Edges.

Use the settings above to get your image cleaned up, you may have to change your setting to work for you.

Now use the Magic Wand Tool (W) to select the inside of the mouth or lip with the Background copy layer selected. Once you get the inside lip selected - Right Click in the selected area with the Magic Wand Tool you'll get a menu > select > Layer Via Copy. Double left click on the new layer name and rename it "inside of lip." This will be the process for this lesson you will always have to go back to the Background copy layer.

To create the wood plaque that the clown head is connected to we'll use the Actions panel for this.

1. Select the Background copy layer. 2. On the layers panel go to the bottom of panel and select Create a New Layer button.

3. Now go to Window > Actions, once the panel opens up go to the top right hand corner you'll see a small triangle. Left Click on it to get a menu > select > Textures located at the bottom of the

6. Make sure the New Blank layer above the Background layer copy is selected. At the bottom of the Actions panel > click on the Play button (small triangle). This will run a script that will create the wood for you. Cool!

7. Now Murge the layers that were create from the Action and call the layer "Wood".

With the Wood layer selected in the Layers panel > go to Edit > Transform > Rotate 90°CW. The reason for this is the wood grain is going the wrong way so it needs to be adjusted.
