A FACELIFT FOR WAGSTAFFE STORE !
Following tireless work by a battalion of volunteers, Wagstaffe Store is now dressed in its new heritage colours of Regency white, lime white, and Earth UD, and significant renovations are taking place inside the store as well. We’ve seen them all at work as we drop in for coffee, but the community would like to express our appreciation for the contribution of the many local residents who gave up their time and their skills to give the old store a new look. Keron especially would like to express her heartfelt thanks to :
Margaret Berry, Julie Ho , Ruth Stokes, Virginia Henderson, Bob Eddington, Tony Bryant, Les Hindmarsh, Sherril Jeffries, Jan Walker, Sandy Dunton, Janet Rouke, Helen Menzies, Cathy Cross, Ken Tough, Brad Berry, John Flynn, Gay and Ian Follington and Margo Brennan .
Would we live anywhere else?
HELP FOR PETS IN WINTER
Winter is a hard time for homeless animals, and the RSPCA at Somersby is full of dogs & cats needing help. It is running short of old blankets, towels etc. to help provide bedding and warmth for animals in care.
The RSPCA has a shop in the courtyard opposite Westpac at Woy Woy, or goods can be received at Somersby.
Think of those cold animals, without family support, & use this as a good time to clean out your cupboards—all contributions welcome!
For more information, contact Barbara Morgan.

DREDGE AT WORK - LOBSTER BEACH CHANNEL 19 June - the Palm Beach ferry squeezing past the dredge pumping sand from the north-eastern end of the sandbank that has been constricting the channel at Lobster Beach. The dashed yellow line indicates the edge of the sandbank and the red circle about 50 metres away is where the dredged sand is being deposited. WTKCA

Improvements at Turo Park Extension
What’s happening here?
The people in the photo above are volunteers planting recently acquired native plants
(endemic to the area), along the creek at Turo Park Extension. The planting is the culmination
of work started in March to remove weeds that had established a foothold which meant they
were difficult to remove. Volunteers removed Lantana, Paddy’s Lucerne, Asparagus Fern,
Naked Lady, Honeysuckle and worst of all, Paspalum which needed ‘paid-for muscle’.
WTKCA footed the bill for the removal of the Paspalum and the purchase of the plants.
Kate Consterdine lent her expertise to the project which added to its success. Thanks are
extended to Kate and the other volunteers who have worked so hard to make the park an at-
tractive place to visit.
The volunteers have done great work, getting rid of the noxious plants from the Turo
extension. Levelling of the ground at the back, by Council will improve the amenity, and this
will be followed by the addition of more sandstone blocks, to replace those that were re-
moved during the creek remediation works. We are hoping that this work can be done dur-
ing the cooler months, so that the concrete bridge will be then painted by some local children,
and any additional landscaping can take place. We will then go to the next stages - introduc-
ing sculptures, installing a footbridge from the picnic area across the creek, and encouraging
greater use of the area.
