Hon'ble Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province Mr. Marshall Perera, Hon'ble Governor of North Western Province Ms. Amara Piyaseeli Ratnayake, Member of Parliament Mr. A. Aravindh Kumar, Leader of Central Provincial Council Mr. D. Mathiyugarajah, former Governor of North Western Province Mr. Tissa R. Balalle and Deputy Chief Secretary (Personnel & Training) were Guests of Honour. More than 130 ITEC Alumni joined us for the event.

14th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was celebrated on 9

th

January 2017. Prominent persons of Indian of Indian origin, including Member of Parliament, Member of Provincial Council and local business community participated in the programme. A Film on Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the Address of Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of Inauguration of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held on 7th January 2017 at Bengaluru was screened along with our Power Point presentation on new initiatives by Government of India. Diaspora shared their experiences.

18/01/2017 AHCI, Kandy, in association with Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Sri Lanka, organized 'PROMOTION OF STATES OF INDIA' on 18th January 2017 at Kandy City Centre (KCC). The objective of the event was to promote States of India in the field of Education, Trade, Tourism and Business. The States highlighted were Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Central Province Mr. Sarath Ekanayake was the Chief Guest of the event.

Continuing with celebration of World Hindi Day 2017, on 11th

January 2017 at BKK auditorium a workshop on 'How to learn

Hindi Easily' was organized. The workshop was conducted by

20 Professors from various States of India. Also a book entitled

'Hindi Sva-Nirman Sangrah' written by Hindi students and

teachers of Sri Lanka and published with the help of professors

from India was launched.

Bharatiya Kala Kendra – Kurunegala

Provincial Council Odissi dance programmes were organized

on 27th & 28

th January 2017 at Kurunegala and Kandy

respectively by an Indian Odissi dance group headed by Guru

Bichitrananda Swain from Rudrakshya Foundation,

Bhuwaneshwar; Odisha.The visit was sponsored by Indian

Council for Culture Relations.

th January 2017 was organized. Hon’ble

Governor of Central Province was the Chief Guest at the flag hoisting ceremony. A documentary film on 'Day in the Life of India' and ‘A year in the growth of AHCI, Kandy’ was shown at the reception with a few cultural events.
