StateCentreforClimateChange• Established in August 2015.• To set a platform for inter departmental coordination onimplementation of CSAPCC and building local capacities about CC.
• To act as a knowledge management centre, by strengtheningexisting knowledge and information base on climate change.
• To provide a platform for stakeholder engagement to developclimate adaptation and mitigation in a participatory manner.
• To act as a monitoring and evaluation agency in theimplementation of CSAPCC.
• To promote capacity and skill enhancement among StateGovernment officials to mainstream climate change & riskreduction in development activities.
• To plan and budget the activities to effectively utilize the availableresources and coordinate on accessing international climate funds.

Projectobjectives• To strengthen the Chhattisgarh State Centre for Climate Changeand Knowledge Management cell on research, training, capacitybuilding and knowledge management on climate change issues inChhattisgarh.• To build a data bank for storing and retrieving climate changeinformation that will be useful to all sectoral line departments,institutes, universities and to general public.• To develop climate change knowledge portal for assisting decisionmakers in framing adaptation and mitigation strategies bynetworking of various sectoral information.• To assess the impacts of climate change and map the vulnerabilityof local communities and ecosystems across the State byestablishing permanent sampling sites and monitoring them over alonger period.

• Baseline survey in progress in three districts of the state tounderstand the present situation of climate change and itseffects.
• Digital maps for wetland of the state have been developed.• Training and workshop being regularly conducted to build
institutional and trainers’ capacity-develop ToTs• Official website of the center prepared for wide dissemination
of climate change knowledge –global to local.• Quarterly news-letter is being published to update the
information on regular intervals.

date in project for capacity building of the stakeholders andtrain & develop ToTs for Climate Knowledge disemination,
• Set up of GIS cell as per sanction in the project is in progressand to be completed in this financial year.

• A pilot project on “Climate adaptation in wetlandsalong the Mahanadi river catchment area inChhattisgarh” is being implemented in three districtsof the State with financial support from MoEF & CC.
• Results of this project will help to develop the properstrategies/model for climate change adaptation inwetland dependent communities.
