Stage One- 1V Week 5 already! Where is that time flying? 1V have been so busy working hard in their English and Maths groups. We have also been busy being artists and creating fish artwork with primary colours using crayons and water colours. They look amazing! Have a great week.

Messages The P&C Uniform Shop will be

open Thursday’s on even weeks from 2.30pm to 3pm. Orders can be left at the office.

Our Whole School Assembly is held fortnightly on a Thursday at 2.10pm. Parents/carers and community members are welcome to attend. Our first whole school assembly will be Thursday 7th March (week 6).

Facebook - Dungog Public School has a very active facebook page. Like our page so you can follow all the exciting things that are happening at our school.

Premiers Reading Challenge –

Monday 4th March to Friday 30th

August.

Any Parents/Carers or community members wanting the DPS newsletter emailed to them weekly please contact the school.

Attendance Text Messaging system – we are continuing to implement our new text messaging system. Text Messages will be sent out daily from approximately 10am. It is a simple procedure to allow parents/carers to simply text back a reason why their child is away from school. The return text message only needs to provide a brief reason as to why the child was away on that day. E.g – Doctor’s appointment, sick, holiday, funeral, etc

Kindergarten- KO KO have been learning so many sounds and sight words. We are learning to make our fingers jump along a sentence when we read aloud. In Maths we have been learning about adding and subtracting and are trying to say the next number quickly, eg 5..7.. In Geography, we have been looking at Google Earth and looking at Dungog and its shops.

Stage One- 1M Wow, it’s week 5 already and another fun week of learning is upon us! This week 1M English class are focusing on ‘e’ and ‘ea’ during spelling. We will also be learning all about Proper Nouns and how to use them in our writing. 1M Maths class are working on number patterns this week. We have some wonderful artists in 1M and this week we are learning all about problem solving and imagination in art through creating digital artworks. Have a super week!

Kindergarten- KM Do you know who sank the boat? KM have been reading and creating artworks on this wonderful story last week. We have learnt the sounds h,r,m,d and lots of new tricky words. We are working in Maths to count and add numbers under 10, together. Please remember to label all your child’s belongings, including hats!

Stage One- 1G Welcome to week 5! The term is flying. 1G

have been discovering and investigating

living and non living things with Mrs Norris

and Miss Gear and finding out interesting

information about mini-beasts within our

school. 1G English class have been reading

‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ By Oliver Jeffers,

and in Maths we have been doing some fun

hands-on activities based around

multiplication ‘making groups of’. Have a

fantastic week.

RFF with Mr Kemp 2K English has been working hard on their sentences, making sure we are using capital letters, full stops and descriptive words. Reading is also a huge focus with groups now up and running. In PD/H/PE all classes have shown fantastic effort and behaviour. Developing positive relationships and looking after ourselves (both physically and mentally) has been a big focus. Don't forget to start training for the Cross Country!

routines and pushing through lots

of work. In English we are learning

about tightening tension and

visualisations – we are lucky these

concepts go hand in hand! Maths

has been all about place value to

understand how numbers work

before Year 4 gets into the tricky

stuff. The countdown to our

excursion continues… 9 sleeps!!!

Stage Two- 2J This week in 2J English, we have been working really hard on our Sizzling Starts! In Science we have started learning all about ‘Changes of state’ and learning all about how and why things change when different temperatures are applied. Keep up the great effort 2J classes!!

Stage Two- 2M A big thank you to all of the parents who attended our ‘Stage 2 Meet & Greet’ afternoon last Tuesday. It was lovely to meet and have an informal chat with many parents and showcase our classrooms. If you missed this afternoon, I am happy to make an alternate time to ‘Meet & Greet’.

Stage Three- 3G 3G English have been working on captivating the reader with some fantastic sizzling starts this week! In Maths we have been learning about addition and subtraction and have been engaged in our new maths rotations and can't wait to get back into it! We have been doing some fantastic discussion with our new PDHPE unit and have been talking about what makes a caring and respectful relationship. Well done to our swimmers who went to Zone on Tuesday and congratulations to those who made it to Regional Swimming!!

Stage Three- 3L It was great to see so many students

remembering their swimmers for sport on

Friday! Let’s make it 100% this week.

3L English have been busy using a ‘hook’

to get the audience interested in our

Imaginative writing and we’ve been

learning about clauses.

3L Maths have been busy completing

addition and subtraction problems. This is

proving tricky as we’re getting into the big

numbers! Have a wonderful week!

Stage Three- 3S SPLAASHH! Everything suddenly became silent and the boat began to rock. This is just a snippet of the sizzling starts 3S have been creating in writing last week. 3S English also blew Miss Snowdon out of the water with our Proper Noun work. We have also been having deep discussions about human rights and going into depth about ‘The Stolen Generation’. This will help us with our understanding of the Mini project that went home last week.

K-6S K-6S are fabulous chefs! For cooking last

week we made delicious Banana

Breakfast Muffins. Below is the recipe if

you want to try them for yourself.

4 ripe bananas

1 cup of sugar

1 egg beaten

2 cups of self-raising flour

2 tbs of milk

Mix all the ingredients together and bake in a muffin tray (180 degrees)

for 20 minutes.

3-6B 3-6B have been focusing on making their writing ‘exciting’. We got the chance to see, taste and smell fairy floss this week to help us brainstorm describing words for our fairy floss writing task.
