Background
Data Mart Interface
Data exchange between several BW systems is the point of the Data Mart Interface.
The system that supplies the data is described as the source BW system; the system that receives the
data is the target BW system.
To transfer data between BW systems, you must first link the source BW system to the target BW using
an RFC connection.
Delta Management
A delta update is only possible for loading from SAP source systems:
SAP system -The delta queue is used to extract data from SAP source systems to an BW system.
BW source system - The delta queue is not used to transfer data between BW systems if so-called data
mart scenarios are being used (data transfer between BW data targets). For Export DataSources, when
transferring transaction data, requests are used to determine a delta.

Delta request fails due to system outage
If a datamart delta request fails and the customer runs the delta infopackage again, then automatically a
repeat request is created. If such a repeat request is created, then this will extract the last already
update request and also the new ones.
However, if there is an error in a delta datamart request, then customers must always do as stated in
note 873401.
NOTE : To avoid duplicate data, do not allow for system down scenarios.

Process
Once the data mart load failure occurs in the Process Chain, the correction procedure is MANUAL .
(Note: an automatic repeat via the Process Chain should not happen if Note 1728589 is implemented). The
manual steps are as follows:
Delete (Red) N-request from target PSA
Execute delta – it will be a repeat
The repeat will work correctly if the DM Flag in the source was set before the load failure NO
FURTHER ACTION NEEDED
However, if duplicate data is loaded (because DM Flag was not set before load failure), then as per OSS
873401 Consulting: Data mart delta administration/duplicate data:
Delete the repeat (Green) request from target PSA
Reset Delta Management by deleting it manually in the Source.
Execute delta - This should then transfer ONLY the requests that have not yet been transferred from the
source.
