There was so much capacity to renovate, modernise and extend the property. We

wanted a house that we could really make our own.

The modern kitchen with handmade units by Jeremy Penman, Tulip wood and granite work surface, engineered oak floor overlooks the garden. There is a separate utility room with Belfast sink, ample storage cupboards and units with a door into the garden and plumbing for the washing machine.

The external aspect of the property is beautiful. it’s very private and peaceful yet still so convenient. We have a lovely light and quiet living room and the kitchen is incredibly liveable in, with

particularly attractive views from the south facing window, we spend so much of our time there. On sunny winters days the conservatory is a warm place to enjoy looking out over the grounds.

The property has double gates onto a driveway with parking and a lovely secluded private south facing garden. Mainly paved with flower beds and mature shrubs this area is an oasis of peace.

Vendor InsightAn eye-catching detached, characterful 150 year old Victorian cottage, current owners Gwen and Ken were excited upon their first visit to the property, by the potential to put their own stamp on it. “There was so much capacity to renovate, modernise and extend the property,” recalls Ken, “we wanted a house that we could really make our own. The closeness to local amenities and transport links was also a really big pull factor for us. We are just five minutes stroll from a local supermarket which is open late seven days of the week plus other local shops and a mere ten minutes from the town centre with its wide range of shops, banks and other services. Also, being outdoor people, we appreciate the closeness to the Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty”

Evesham is well stocked with a range of eating establishments and high street shops, as well as three medical practices, community hospital with its minor injuries unit and an excellent dental practice 100m away. Just one and a half miles from the property two edge-of-town shopping centres provides further large retail outlets and superstores including Tesco, Boots, B&Q, Halfords and M&S food. Within a five minute drive are several high quality farm shops, providing an exquisite variety of local, seasonal produce and The Valley Country Park with its large garden centre, restaurants and boutique stores. Schooling in the region is superb with highly regarded first, middle and high schools all within a 20 minute walk and an excellent variety of private and grammar schools in Pershore, Chipping Camden, Worcester and Stratford-upon-Avon. “In Evesham itself the Arts Centre puts on theatrical and musical productions on a regular basis. The newly refurbished Regal Cinema shows all major films within 14 days of release, as well as live video of theatre productions, ballet recitals, opera and concerts. Just five minutes from the house it is one of our favourite evening pastimes.” Other local theatres include the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre, The Birmingham Rep and Malvern Theatres, which frequently puts on pre-West End shows. The Birmingham Royal Ballet at the Hippodrome and the CBSO at the Symphony Hall are both accessible within one hour. For those with an interest in sport, there is a recently built leisure centre, and a rowing club each with squash and tennis courts, in addition to local Rugby, Football, Cricket and Cycling Clubs.

“The external aspect of the property is beautiful,” describes Gwen, “it’s very private and peaceful yet still so convenient. We have a lovely light and quiet living room and the kitchen is incredibly liveable in, with particularly attractive views from the south facing window, we spend so much of our time there. On sunny winters days the conservatory is a warm place to enjoy looking out over the grounds.” The courtyard garden is colourful all year and well stocked with greenery but requiring minimal maintenance. A natural stone paved area is ideal for barbeques or just sitting out on a summer evenings for drinks.

Worcester is the site of the final battle of the Civil War. The River Severn runs through the middle of this attractive city, overlooked by the 10th-century Worcester Cathedral.

The county town and historic city of Worcester is just 17 miles southwest of Birmingham and 23 miles north of Gloucester. The city historically hosted a flourishing glove making industry and was the home of Royal Worcester Porcelain as well as, for much of his life, the composer

Sir Edward Elgar.

Providing the ideal location for retail therapy, there are three large covered shopping centres and an additional three out of town shopping parks. The main commercial centre can be found on the recently modified high street, home to a number of major retail chains and the older shopping streets contain numerous individual boutiques. There is also a racecourse, theatre,

cricket club and university.

The green city of Worcester provides three spacious parks and two large woodlands covering 33 hectares. The banks of the River Severn provide an idyllic setting for an evening stroll or bike ride, surrounded by the wonderful Worcestershire countryside bounded by the Malvern

Hills and pretty market towns.

Historic landmarks include the spectacular Worcester Cathedral, dating back to the 10th Century and the Queen Anne style Guildhall designed by Thomas White, a pupil of Sir Christopher Wren in 1722. The latest landmark is Worcester’s new central library, ‘ The Hive ‘,

a striking gold roofed building on the site of the former cattle market.
