On March 1st, 2012Mrs. Rooney’s preschoolers:• Created artwork using food coloring and

coffee filters. • Discussed different colors and made

predictions about adding water to their artwork.

• Used familiar tools from home, food coloring bottles, to expand their creativity in art and practice controlling such tools.

• Displayed completed artwork on the window for all to see.

Students in Mrs. Rooney’s class used food coloring to dye coffee filters.

Students dripped colors and water onto their coffee filters.

“What colors do you see?”“Red, blue, black, yellow, and green!” - M

“Only 1 drop of each color. Squeeze very gently. Okay… stop! Now let’s use a new color in a new area.”

Students used a pincer grasp.
