Using the extension Before you can use the extension make sure that you’ve created a Photo album with Flash Album Generator 2 and that you have Installed the latest version of Flash Album Generator 2.02 Furthermore you need to install the PHP or ASP versions of Pure Upload and Smart Image Processor depending on what server language you use. Open your Flash Album and open the extension by clicking on the Commands menu in Dreamweaver and choosing the Dynamic Flash Gallery (PHP or ASP) option. Or by pressing the icon in the object pallet in the Common bar.

A new dialog will appear, we’ll start by filling in the Security options. Enter a Username and password that the user needs to enter to manage the online gallery.

Next we choose the File Upload Folder. You need to select the Folder that you’ve used in Flash Album Generator for you resized images (the Destination Folder in the Flash Album Generator 2 extension). In this case that a folder with the name “ img” . It is very important that you set the permissions of this folder on your server to read and write! For PHP users: please read the article about setting the folder security for your server for PHP For ASP users: please read this article about setting the folder security for your server for ASP . Note: for ASP users, make sure the also the ASPNET, IUSR_xxx and IWAM_xxx user accounts also have full permissions to the upload folder. See this FAQ and this one for more information. Ok that’s it, press the OK button to create your Dynamic Flash Gallery. Depending on your previous actions you’ll get one or more dialogs. Be sure to read the dialogs carefully as they contain important information. The first dialog that appears states that an SWF and PHP or ASP file are created and that you need to upload these to your server.

When your XML file is not in the folder that contains your resized images you will get a message that the XML file is modified and is copied to the resized images folder.

If the support files (that are created by Pure Upload) are not in the general ScriptsLibrary folder yet you’ll get a dialog that states that these files are copied.

Managing your online gallery Got to the internet page where your gallery resides. Click on your gallery and press @ (shift+2). An Authentication screen appears;

Enter the Password and Username that you’ve specified in Dreamweaver. Now your gallery is in edit mode.

Edit a gallery title

Press the to change the title of the gallery. After pressing the icon, an edit gallery popup appears. Lets change the text in the Title field from “ Las Vegas” to “ Fabulous Las Vegas” .

Press Ok, as you can see the gallery title is changed to “Fabulous Las Vegas” .

Adding an image

Let’s add a new image to our gallery by pressing the icon. Select the image(s) you want to add and press Open. Tip: You can select multiple images by holding the control (or the apple key for Mac users) or the shift button while selecting images.

A new popup appears while you’re uploading the images. The upper bar displays the progress of the current file and the lower bar is the total progress.

And another popup will show when your upload is successful.

Edit the description of your slide and add a link Select the slide where you want to change your text, we’ve selected the Barbary Coast image. As you can

see now, the text of the main image is Barbary Coast. Let’s edit the description by pressing the icon.

A new popup appears. First we edit the text by changing the Title field, we change it to “The lights of Barbary Coast”. We also decide to link the text to http://www.barbarycoastcasino.com/main.html by entering the Web link field. We set the target to _blank in the Link target field. You can set the target to;

• _blank • _self • _top • _parent • a frame name

Press OK. A new popup appears while you changes are being processed. As you can see the text is edited. When the user clicks the text the website of Barbary Coast will open in a blank window.

Changing the order of your images To change the order of your images, hold the control button (the apple button for Mac users) and select the images you want to move. The images you select turn blue. Hold the control (or apple) button and select a blue images to deselect it (if necessary). Now move your mouse where you want to move the images (in the area between two thumbnails), a vertical bar appears at the area.

Click at the location at the bar to place the images. A loading screen appears while the images are moved. As you can see the images are moved to the specified location.

Removing an image

Let’s select an image that we want to remove. Click the icon. A new popup appears that asks if you are sure you want to remove the image. Press OK to remove the image.

FAQ Q: My viewer gives an error that is unable to load the XML file A: Make sure that you test the gallery on your server as a local gallery will not work. Q: After refreshing, my album doesn’t display my changes.

A: Make sure you’ve uploaded your gallery XML file and the files from your Scriptlibrary Folder to your server and that you’ve deleted your browser cache.
