• Expanding Earth Observation Applications in Agriculture and Promoting Capacity Building in Developing Countries
• Monitoring of agricultural production leading to accurate and timely reporting of national agricultural statistics and accurate forecasting of shortfalls in crop production and food supply
• Effective early warning of famine, enabling timely mobilization of an international response in food aid

• Capacity building– state-of-the art models for Agricultural and forest
monitoring– gain experience in applicability of these models to
local conditions– adapt or select the appropriate models for integration
in local operational workflows

• Agricultural crop and biomass predictive models• Short term on-hand workshop (expose DRSRS
participants to state-of-the art models and newly available satellite data
sets)• 1-2 month training• Exposure on existing cases (Morocco, China etc)• Tools (infrastructure): AMESD

•Local crop data infrastructure and database.
• Train on generation of crop calendars, plant density, area, yields, LAI, ETP, etc.
•Train on calibration of crop parameters at local level
•Calibrate crop model local varieties especially for phenology and yield level
