Home Based Livestock Farming activities in District Gujranwala

Solve Agri Pak is implementing a skills development project in collaboration with Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) in district Gujranwala for training of rural women on 'Home Based Livestock Farming'.

Currently, 8 training centers are in-place in 8 villages of Kamonki tehsil of district Gujranwala. These are

1. Tamboli2. Nithranwali3. Gunour4. Raja5. Manhis6. Bharoki7. Nangray8. Harpoki

These training centers are functional since August 19, 2014 covering basic literacy module and Home Based Livestock Farming module in 4 months. Each training center has its full strengths of 21 female farmers of villages / illaga. Qualified DVM trainers having specialty of adult training are entrusted to impart theoretical as well as practical trainings according to the prescribed module.

Solve Agri Pak CEO Mr. Haroon Lodhi visited the field office and training centers on Thursday. He was accompanied by Pakistan Agriculture Scientists Forum President Hafiz Wasi Muhammad Khan, Solve Agri Pak Dairy Development & Capacity Building Manager Dr. Waseem Shaukat and Solve Agri Pak Project Manager - Skills Development Dr. Muhammad Rasheed. The management was briefed about the project implementation plan at the field office in Sadhoki followed by visits of training centers. The management reviewed the on-going training activities at the centers, interacted with the trainees and the training staff. Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Lodhi said that Solve Agri Pak is committed to contribute in livestock development and poverty alleviation through skills development in the rural areas. He assured that Solve Agri Pak is striving to impart highly professional and need-oriented trainings to the rural women for enhancing their basic literacy level along with empowering them with adequate knowledge and skills that can enable them to make their home based livestock businesses profitable.

Addressing to the trainees, Hafiz Wasi Khan said that education and skills development is not age-bound and hence can be obtained at any age. He said that the present opportunity being served by Solve Agri Pak in collaboration with PSDF is one of the blessings for the rural women with low literacy and high involvement in livestock farming. He emphasized the trainees to play active role in learning and thereby practical application of the modern concepts and techniques in livestock farming to enhance

production and profitability. Later the SAPPL management had an interactive discussion with the project staff at field office and urged the staff to ensure high standards of professional trainings.It is worth mentioning that over 500 rural women in 25 villages of Gujranwala district will be benefited with current collaboration of Solve Agri Pak and Punjab Skill Development Funds.
